Q: Which works better-the slide lock or the micro lock? Which is more secure?

Since the two locking S-Biners are not available in the same sizes, the question may well be moot! However, I do use both of these locking S-Biners, in all of the available sizes and can report:1) Both locking systems are secure2) The micro lock is the more positive and obvious system since the central locking "knob" activates both locks and is easily visible when looking ay the device.3) The slide lock is the easier device to remove things from as you can open either side while being assured that the other side is still locked and secure.4) The micro lock is great for keys5) The slide lock is great for keeping larger items secured to your belt.I hope this helps!

Bout three-quarters of an inch to an inch just from eyeballing it.

Q: Which size is better for use as a key chain; 2 or 4?

I use a #2. It's approximately 2" Long. With the key chain I use, it feels almost too long. I wouldn't go bigger, but I have seen some people with large carabiners for key chains, so it's a matter of personal opinion.
