Great Initial English Workbook
I've used CGP books in a number of different ways with various young people through work and have always found them extremely useful, well laid out and gives a boost for students at home from the curriculum they are currently learning. To be honest, I even remember using them myself when I was at school a good few years ago now, they're that well established as a publisher! These workbooks are designed to help catch-up and support learning at home and this one is for KS1 - Year 1 so aimed at 5-6year olds . It is designed to be completed week by week with the activities getting progressively harder as they learn more in school. This is an English based one and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Obviously it will support learning but is not intended to be daunting or overly hard and you will know how well your little one copes with this type of learning, I really like that you can help support school learning at home and feel part of what your child is learning, whist encouraging them from home. They are clear, concise and fun for little ones to complete. As a new parent to a little one, I was intrigued by this range aimed at younger students and excited to see what they have to offer and was happy to find the quality and challenges are the same with these books as I've previously used. I really like this workbook and the fact that you have answers in the back means parents or care givers can also check answers and help with corrections. I know sometimes supporting young ones at home can be daunting for some but with answers supplied you can help encourage your young one with no stress about what is right or wrong. I find these encourage great conversation, especially when completed supported and I look forward to completing this with my little one when he is ready.

Great English practice book
This is a brilliant English workbook.Aimed for ages 5-6 (year 1 school children). The book contains 60 pages of english practice pages with 1 page to be complete each day of the school term. Each page takes about 10mins to complete so is ideal as a quick activity for children to help to improve their handwriting. The pages contain a mixer of topics and the difficulty level of the tasks increases as you progress through the book. The range of tasks range for putting words in the correct order to create an sentence, drawing lines to a missing word, circling words with missing letters just to name a few. Each page is clearly set out. At the top of the page before your child starts the page there is a clear example showing how to complete the task.At the bottom of each page is a score box which you can use to keep track on your child can progress.Fantastic quality as always with CGP workbooks. There are pictures on each page to make it more appealing for children to complete the work.Great value for money. This hugely benefit my 6yr old .Would highly recommend.

A very good learning/teaching aid.
The English language is really difficult and taking those first steps is a hard task. Unfortunately it doesn’t get any easier from there. This book has numerous fun activities so your little one can get a little extra practice in each day. It’s easy to follow, and most of the activities are the same as those done in school. My son is actually in Y2 but is struggling with suspected dyslexia so this Y1 book is helping him.The only thing I don’t like is that it’s done in print rather than cursive. I know it makes it easier to read but my sons school start them with cursive in reception, so the different styles are slightly confusing for him when he has to copy the words.Otherwise, it’s a good book and I would recommend it.

All round English practise
If you are looking for quick and easy English practice to do at home with your 5-6 year old then look no further. This fantastic book by CGP provides short daily exercises to do with your child which will reinforce what is being covered in school without taking up more than 10 minutes a day. It quickly allows you to pinpoint areas upon which to focus further and allow independent work in other areas. It looks at commonly misspelt words, punctuation, comprehension, grammar and so much more.KS1 students have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. I would suggest these books are vital for every child to look at all topics covered and ensure they start KS2 with the foundations needed. Thank you CGP!

Good for catch up/tutoring
I ordered the at home (CGP KS1 English) learning and catch up book.I've ordered this book to try and help my daughter catch up on the amount of school work she has missed due to the pandemic. She will be going into Year 2 soon and she's already missed half of her Reception year and her Year 1 year. So far, this book has been really good for her. We have been doing 1/2 pages a day and it's really helped improve her Year 1 English skills. Overall, I am happy with this item and I do think CGP books are really good to help improve those skills needed. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to play catch with their own child or even work for tutoring sessions.

Brilliant series if books
This series of books are brilliant!Lots of pictures to keep kids engaged and well thought out learning material where we can help our children learn whilst at home, could really help with kids who are struggling too.Lots of activities for kids to do and learn from and scores at the bottom of pages, if you use a pencil you could reuse these once you rub the pencil out :)

Another fantastic resource
This is a daily practise book in English for 6/7 year olds (year 1 Primary school). The pages are labelled by week and day, so children are encouraged to complete one double page each day (i.e. little and often). The book is highly engaging, with a nice balance of explanation and practice. This is a fantastic educational resource and I will be purchasing subsequent books in the series.
