These are described as a salt and pepper SHAKER set. That's what I wanted - a salt and pepper set with little holes in the top out of which you could shake the salt or pepper .These are not that. They are salt and pepper MILLS not shakers. They are very beautiful and excellent quality but I already have salt and pepper mills and I really wanted the shakers. I have decided not to send then back but I shall now have to look elsewhere for what I really wanted.
