This was to replace a dinner plate that broke from this pattern. I did feel the price was very high for a single plate but I do not know that Amazon has any control over pricing. Also, as I have not purchased from this pattern in retail recently, I am not sure if the price is consistent with what it would be if I bought it at a store.
