Worked great!
I was concerned with how old all the computer gear I was working on, but it all held together beautifully, while I transferred all the files of a Rockstar hard drive!

Easy
Works for what i needed for my mini DV tape to digital conversion project. Saved me a lot of money going this route with my older mac with fireport rather than the route requiring multiple expensive adapters to utilize my newer mac book.

Good buy
I need a Firewire cable to transfer data from my old HD. This cable works great for my iMac. Great quality cable. I am going to watch and see if cable disintegrate. Because, I have seen old cables with soft coating that turned into sticky goo~.

Works with MacBook as it SHOULD (FireWire400-FireWire800 cable)
I needed to access my old FireWire 400 hard drives to MacBook Pro that has Thunderbolt. The Apple Thunderbolt adapter (from Ebay) connects to FireWire800 and I used this cable to connect 800 to 400 external HD SUCCESSFULLY so far. I have connected 2 different external HD and 2 IPod gen2 using this cable and the Apple adapter successfully. Great product so far after 2 weeks.

Works for Mac with Thunderbolt adapter
It works. I use this to import video from an old Canon DV camera to a Mac Studio with the Thunderbolt to Firewire, then Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter, (yes you need all this) and it works great. Quicktime or iMovie can see the camera and allow import of the DV footage.

A great way to extend the life of two vintage Macs
As a collector of Macs deemed “vintage” or “obsolete” by Apple, I can say that this very inexpensive cable has improved the maintenance process with both my PowerBook G4 and 27” iMac, both of which are the main reason I bought the cable. The second reason - a used LaCie D2 Quadra enclosure with a variety of ports including FireWire 800 - came to me just days after I had already ordered the cable. After removing the cable from the package and plugging it into the aforementioned computers and hard drive, the drive responded almost immediately.Copying 14 GB of data took anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, where it would have taken 15-20 minutes with FireWire 400, and over an hour with USB.With help from Target Disk Mode - which can be activated by holding “T” as you power up your Mac - I can quickly and easily back up the PowerBook or transfer data without having to open the cover on the PowerBook and risk damaging anything. All in all, this is a very good inexpensive cable. I would definitely recommend it for those who need a FireWire 800 cable, but don’t already have one or need a replacement.
