Excellent and engaging source of renewable energy information for kids
This book is a comprehensive treatment of renewable energy (and climate change and energy efficiency) but targeted in an engaging way at the middle school audience. I am really impressed with how accessible they make the information -- that covers everything from the actual facts of all kinds of renewable energy, energy efficiency and even nuclear energy; to the history of energy; the types of jobs that kids can strive for; and even the honest tradeoffs of different types of energy sources, including renewables. The book is nicely layed out and illustrated to keep kids engaged, and I love the many activities that can really bring the concepts to life. There are even embedded videos that can be accessed via scanner codes. The authors really seem to respect kids' intelligence and importance in embracing these issues as they begin to make decisions about their and their family's energy use. I highly recommend this book to families and teachers.

Great for child science projects.
Good book. I obviously didn't look close enough before I ordered because I wanted something for an adult, but it's a great book for kids. I'll pass it on.

Renewable Energy: Discover the Fuel of the Future opens with a familiar image of the five interlocked Olympic rings, yet this time they represent five different renewable energy sources: sun, wind, water, biomass and geothermal. A cleaner future is indeed a new international challenge—and we need the United States to be competitive in renewable energy innovation. So help young people train to be 'Energy Olympians' with this fantastic book. Each renewable energy source is presented with background reading that analyzes its history, pros, and cons, and there is a helpful glossary integrated in the text. Young readers will be engaged by the visual style and colorful illustrations. The best part is that scientific practices are embedded throughout the book, and there are 20 hands-on investigations to enhance learning. This book deserves a gold medal!

Great overview of renewable energy options for a low carbon future!
“Renewable Energy – Discover the Fuel of the Future” is a great way to allow students to explore the different types of renewable energy sources that can help us get to a low carbon future. This book describes each of the renewable technology areas (wind, water, solar, biomass, and geothermal) in an easy to understand way, giving pros and cons, multiple hands-on activities, and links to additional information for further exploration. I really enjoyed the special sections in each chapter that highlight a green job that is important for each type of energy source! In this current environment it is especially important that students understand that renewable energy is accessible and interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to students and teachers looking to learn more about renewable energy and STEM!
