Great bypass lopper
I rarely write a review but felt compelled with this lopper because I spent significant time researching it and thought I would pass along my experiences.I had the model 3479 for many years and it was the most rugged and utilitarian bypass lopper I ever owned. Living in an oak forest, it has performed beyond expectations on green and dry wood regardless of size and wood density. The extensibility was a key feature for me as was the 3X compound cutter. I do not care for ratchet versions because it takes more time to cut thick limbs and anvil loppers do not cut green ones cleanly. The fiberglass handles are incredibly strong with just enough give to prevent bending or breaking even when I use my full body weight to cut the hardest limbs. I refuse to buy loppers with aluminum handles because they bend too easily. The only issue I ever had was the foam grips require tape to hold in place after awhile. However, one of the handles broke while driving my tractor when it became wedged against a tree.Looking for a replacement, the 3470 was listed as extending only to 33"; however, it turns out it is EXACTLY the same as the 3479 (listed as 40" extended length) because they changed the measurement to be the distance from the base to the top of the handle instead of to the tip of the cutter. This length change makes no sense and almost caused me to buy a different brand. Other than the 3479 metal pieces having a black coating perhaps indicating a different alloy/treatment, there does not appear to be any difference between two. (One exception: the twist-lock on the handles seems to be much tighter. I read complaints about the handles accidentally being unlocked or extending during use but the 3470 is definitely much harder to unlock.)One final comment. In my search I discovered that replacement blades are not available or come at a hefty price ($50/each) for some other potential loppers. While surprising, it was the factor in my not purchasing a different make/model. With well over 15 years of use, I have only gone through two blades with the 3479 (they are tough and only require occasional sharpening) but they are easy to obtain and are exactly the same as used in the 3470.Given how many products have been redesigned with much lower quality, it was gratifying to find out that Corona has maintained the same great product from the beginning. Highly recommended.

Best clipper / lopper
Corona FL 3470 Compound Action, this is the best limb and brush clipper made. Holds a sharp edge, extends for purposes of reach and leverage. I have two, bought my second one this past week and have had my earlier one for 18 years. Best there is!!!!

The Best Clipper I have ever used.
My wife needed me to help her clip branches and the bamboo growth on ourbeach. Some trunks are 2 inches thick. I have to use a metal clipper tocut them and then a small clipper to cut some strands of fiber still holdingthe trunk together. Takes lots of time and needs muscle power. My wife'sBonsai Club friend, who is in her 80's, lent her a Corona 3x power lopper. It means a 3 times purchase or leverage in power. In short if you appliedone pound of force, you would get 3 lbs of force at the cutting surface. The blade is sharp and can be re-sharpened. I cleared about 20 feet ofbamboo about 2 feet thick in no time. Cut the sections to 3 feet lengthsfor trash pickup. Even my wife could cut with it without strain. I ordered one lopper, Corona Compound-Action Bypass Lopper FL 3470 for myself. Just bought two extra lifetime blades and a sharpener made for the 3470 lopper. My lopper is not dull. I just cut green limbswith it, but I know the value of a sharp blade and the blades can beeasily removed if needed. I will stay with this one lopper forever. It isthat good. One easy cut with very little force and the section is cutthrough without any fibers holding the sectons together.

Need a TRULY lighter weight lopper
I've been looking for a lighter weight expandable 1 1/2" lopper for quite a while. My old one wore out and everyone I found on line or in stores was way to heavy to lift above my head to lop off mature tree branches. Most say they are lightweight but ended up being 3.74 lbs. That is way to much weight to hold over my head for any amount of time need to LOP.
