A little grainy
I typically love Richeson oil colors, but this one is a touch grainy and doesn't have the same pigment load as some other trans ox yellows. My favorite is still Old Holland, it's silky and far more pigment dense, M Graham's comes in second (about the same mass tone as OH's) it's a bit looser in texture because they use walnut oil, and Gamblin's would be my 3rd choice. This one just doesn't cut it next to these. Hope that's helpful for someone. As a side note, their cobalt blue is very nice as is the cobalt violet. Their titanium white has an excellent handling quality, but be prepared for long dry time on it, it's made with safflower oil.
