I was debating between the larger diameter cup and smaller one designed for smaller filters. My filter for my Honda Crosstour and Toyota RaV 4 measured 2 1/2” diameter. Being the smaller model fits filters under 2 3/4” I had concern from a review that the spacing between the filter and inner wall of the cup could potential slow down or block the rate of oil causing it to overfill. This cup is soft and malleable and even though my filter on my Honda doesn’t have a lot of room on one side this fit up around the filter perfectly and collected the oil not spilling a drop. Now I specifically ordered a 3/4” reinforced section of hose that fits the drain port perfectly and there is a second cap and that holds a 3/4” inside diameter hose while not in use and I liked kept the bag the hose came in so while the hose drains it drains into the support bag it came in. I ordered the holder as part of a kit that offered a savings over buying it separately. The holder has strong magnets and holes for screws if you wanted. Now I felt this is a game changer as no more oil dripping from a filter letting wind blow it wherever it wanted. And collected it all. I actually had no use for the hose because the end of this cup I was able to direct right into an oil pan. I believe of if I capped the end it would hold all the oil and I wouldn’t need a hose or oil pan. CONS: Now i felt after one use i would make some changes to in better help use it. The cup is made of very soft malleable rubber and i was wearing surgical gloves which had gotten oil on them, this became a problem trying to grip the housing. Because it’s so slick and when oil gets inside it’s hard to grip the filter and turn because the cup will slip and or your hand will slip on the very smooth rubber. Personally a huge improvement would be to have flats like a NUT all the way around so your fingers would have something to grab and not slip so easily. I actually very surprised this wasn’t thought of or this section had more of a texture like rough sand because of your hands are slick then trying to squeeze this enough to grab the filter and turn it is not that easy and even harder to determine when is the filter doing to drop? The magnet inside the cup as you can see can hold a filter upside down and even with oil it in when I turned to empty it into the oil pan the filter never fell out so this thing works. I would also like to see maybe some magnets on the inside walls so it also helps hold the filter as you turn it. Something I think I will add to mine because if the cup held the filter then it would be easier to turn. Just some input from using it the first time. Like all my stuff I take care of things and I washed it and since I hadn’t gotten the holder at the time it went back in the box clean. I honestly am not sure a smaller cup would be a benefit or a risk of overflowing. My opinion but I don’t see the need to gamble. Get the large one and make your oil changes cleaner which is even more beneficial when you install a drain porn like a Fujimoto drain port like I have in all my vehicles. This now makes that one last step a little cleaner.

This put the finishing touch on my ability to do a clean oil change. Removing the used oil filter with this makes it a clean job from start to finish. Considering what is being charged today for a complete oil change, I have to do it myself. With this and a few other pieces of equipment, I can now do my oil changes quickly and stay clean.

First I want to say that this is a great idea for the most part. I used this on a 2019 Ram with the 5.7, which is well known to have an oil filter in a spot that can cause a big mess when removing. The funnel was helpful by holding it under the filter, loosening the filter, and allowing it to drain into the funnel before removal. I moved to the drain plug, which has a sway bar next to it. I tried to position the flexible funnel in such a way that it could fit between the oil pan and sway bar. Unfortunately, when doing so the magnet (meant to catch the drain plug as it falls) stuck to the oil pan and pulled out of the funnel (shown in the first photo). Then the drain plug fell into the funnel, blocked it, and allowed about half the oil to overflow onto the drive before I could get the plug out of it. If the magnet was more positively seated, and couldn’t easily be removed, I believe it would have worked as expected. I still feel it’s a great tool to have, I just learned a very messy lesson I hoped to pass on to others. I would still recommend it.

Be advised that the wrong size is printed on the X version of the current batch of this tool. It says up to 4" But, if you ordered X and you got X, you got the right one. I e-mailed the company and Elliott responded immediately. As for the Oil Udder, all I can say is Wow! It gives me a grip on the filter housing that I would not have after getting oil on my fingers. In the past, I put them on hand tight but needed a filter wrench to remove them. Not now. And no spill. I love it.

If you buy this for a RAM 1500 5.7 Hemi you will be disappointed. While it does catch some of the oil as you remove the filter, it still allows oil to run down the sides missing the udder cup since on a RAM truck the udder must be at an angle to fit. This was featured in one of their videos on a RAM 1500 due to the poor design placement of the filter where oil spills onto the electronic steering, but it still doesn't do the job. When you go to remove the filter you still have to tilt it which spills outside of the rubber udder. While it may only be half the mess, I still had my arm covered in oil and oil spill onto the steering housing and crossmember. I think a gallon ziplock bag and rags would work just as well. It probably works well on other vehicles but not on the RAM 1500 as advertised.

Fit for purpose. Don’t really use the magnet.

This is my husband’s second purchase. The first one was lost and due to lack of options, he really wanted this design. He then purchased and finally got it. He was extremely excited and love the idea that this was actually made by two men. It was not made by a big company. Highly recommended and cudos to the two gentlemen that does this by hand!
