Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB External Hard Drive HDD ? USB 3.0 for PC Laptop (STEA2000422)

This device is easy to use; just plug it into a USB port, and it's ready in just a couple seconds. It runs quietly, and files copy to it quickly; a little faster than the other external USB 3.0 drives I own. No external power supply required; it gets its power via the USB cable.My only minor criticism is that the sales page claims "Easily store and access 2TB of content", but that's the UNformatted capacity, NOT the capacity for content. The capacity for content is only 1.81 TB. That's typical these days; the marketing people use the unformatted capacity, and then take the liberty of universally applying it, despite 10% of the capacity being unavailable for files. Even so, this device is a very good value, especially when "on sale" at a reduced price.

I bought this drive to replace a Western Digital passport. I normally have had good luck with Seagate in the past. Shipping was quick and setup was painless. One week past the Amazon return deadline, the drive stopped working -- not recognized by a drive by any computer I attached it to. Now I have to deal with getting service from the manufacturer, literally FIVE WEEKS after I purchased it. Not a happy consumer.

Bought 2 pieces in 2019 and so far no problems.I've been using Seagate portable disks for a very long time: I still own the 250Gb, 500Gb, 750Gb, 1Tb, 2Tb and now 2 pieces of this item.I use them every month or so to backup especially my photos in several copies, at home and remote locations as well (never too careful).They are still ALL working perfectly.On the other hand I had to throw away 2 Samsung 2TB (one of them yesterday) and a Western Digital 2TB after less than 2 years of use.The Samsung with bad sectors, even repaired I can't trust them any more, and the WD after 13 months, it just won't turn on any more.This Seagate is also much faster than the Samsung (which has problems with storing small files, a FAT generic problem).I've read the negative reviews regarding the Seagate reliability, fortunately I've never experienced problems, so far.Strongly recommend it...again...so far.

Very easy to setup and slim factor. Bought this device to add additional storage to my son's PS4. Quite easy to configure and is compatible with PS4 per external drive options. Great value for the price.
