Is this a good choice for me if I don't have a great knowledge of modular synthesizers, I mean something to use to learn ?

I feel it is a great introduction to modular synthesis. The manual is well written and offers patch ideas to get you familiarized with the patch bay and how to utilize it. Also, you don't need to use the patch bay at all to make great sounds.

How do you program the sequencer part?

You have a live record function that tracks your playing and inputs them as steps in the sequencer ( IE if you hold a note for more than one beat it plays back as a single note unless you use the hold button ) its a little frustrating. But normal for a step based sequencer. Or... you can input each step one step per note and easily add your holds and rests, much more like writing music out on sheet paper. All in all great synth, get two and stack your oscillators or integrate into mudular rig for richer / more complex sounds.

Can I rack mount this unit with rack ears?

Not directly, it's not the right width and there's no mounting accessory like the rack kit for the Minitaur. However, Mother-32 is eurorack-compatible, you just need to take it out of its case. So, you can find any rack-mountable case for eurorack modules and it will work.

Can you attach a usb keyboard to this unit? can you connect a korg volca beats to it as well?

No you cannot attach a USB to it per say as it does not have a USB out, it does however have a MIDI in so you can control it directly from a keyboard with a midi out. If you want to use a keyboard that requires USB then simply connect the MIDI from the Mother 32 to your computer and your USB keyboard to the computer and map it as your control surface in your DAW. You can connect a Korg Volca Beats to it through the sync in and out (on the korg) and the external instrument jack on the Mother 32.
