A beautiful book, cover to cover
I've been looking forward to this book for a little while now. If you've ever had the pleasure of tasting Marianna's food at Morito Hackney Rd, you know. Her passion for her native Crete shines through on every page of this book. This is a celebration of simple, honest flavours that to me typify Cretan food. The Mountains, Land and of course being a fisherman's daughter the Sea all get solid representation. I love Marianna's straight forward approach to her recipes. The personal stories dotted about sharing her culinary journey make this more than a recipe book.It didn't take long to ear-mark several recipes I want to try. "Beef Cheeks with Potatoes," "Prawns with Ouzo, Orzo and Courgette," "Tomato and Oregano Fritters with whipped Feta" as well as some classics "Lamb Cutlets with Lemon and Oregano," "Stuffed Vine Leaves," "Cretan Summer Salad," and the beautiful "Kakavia," a one pot fish stew, just to name a few. Honestly, I would've bought the book for the Orange and Broken Filo Pastry Pie alone (if you've not had it, it's a revelation).Travel itself may be limited this summer but I've found a delicious alternative to explore Crete this summer.

Yum
Love, love, love this book. Perfectly timed as the chances of getting to Greece this year are slim. It’s beautiful and atmospheric, recreating the simple and humble approach of Greek island cooking and the recipes look really achievable. I’m going to make the potato and tomato bake with some grilled sea bass this weekend along with the Metaxa prawns and leaf and fig salad. Efaristo Marianna!

Stunning
The most beautiful book I own. Easy to follow recipes that encapsulate the wonderful flavours of Marianna's cooking and transport you to the sundrenched island of Crete. Beautiful images and Marianna's heartfelt stories of life in Crete make this cookbook a delightful journey. Bought for everyone who missed their summer holidays this pandemic. It's a real joy to read.

Aegean can't wait to cook!
The recipes inside the book are great so my stars are for the contents of the recipe book which I can't wait to to start cooking from. The book arrived exactly when Amazon said it would but that is where good things end. The condition of the book is appalling as every single corner of the front and back cover has been damaged also including the 4 corners of the spine, so it makes the book look like its second or third hand before I've even opened it. When I buy something NEW I expect it to look new and in pristine not look like it's been kicked around. Proper packaging would have gone a long way to prevent any damage to the contents of the parcel! Excellent cookery book but I will think twice before I order online again.

Stunning recipes, not just a cookbook but a story and a love letter to a cherished home.
Marianna has succeeded brilliantly in putting her passion and philosophy of food to paper. I've had the pleasure of working with her on and off for a decade and my main observation has been that she isn't just an intuitive chef but also a teacher. She discusses ingredients, processes and potentials, that makes service a learning experience rather than the do your best job it often is.The food is bright, unpretentious and delicious, just like her!Well done darling, it's wonderful x
