Very good
Some absolute gems in this collection. I'd say this is King at his earliest best. Strange, dark, wierd and funny as you would expect but also quite thought provoking. The Lawnmower Man is just outrageous and confirms that Mr King enjoyed his drugs! Genius work that takes you to places and introduces you to characters that chill and astound. Jerusalems Lot was an excellent prequel story to Salems lot and worth the purchase price alone if your a fan. If this is your first venture into a King book be prepared for some oddities but don't let it put you off the multiverse.

Great collection of stories
Having read other stephen king short story collections in the past this is by far his best. This was his first story collection and like all his early novels seem to be of a higher standard compared to his later works. Some of these stories you may recognise as they've been adapted to film such asTHe Graveyard Shift, The Lawnmower Man, Children of the corn and about a couple which featured in the film CATS Eyes starring James woods. If you're a stephen king fan then this you should definitely add this this to your collection, as its such an important body of work.Another collection I recommend is Different Seasons.

Excellent
Mostly excellent short stories including several very creepy ones. In particular Jerusalem's Lot, which was one of the creepiest stories I've ever read. King has a great imagination and with short stories he can really let it loose. There's a creeping dread to some of these that seems even more potent than in his best novels. There's something almost experimental to the stories here that's quite rewarding as a King fan. I suppose the short length (most of them are twenty or so pages) and limited requirements on the reader's attention allow him to go anywhere he likes.

Turtleback Books Edition
I purchased this book in the Turtleback Books edition: bound for schools and libraries. They are compact, with paperback dimensions; but are hardcovers: offering more protection and longevity.

Loved it
Brilliant, short creepy and weird stories. Stephen King is the master of horror. All his books are 5 star!
