5 stars for the pack and customer service
This is an update to my last review. Venture Pal responded immediately with concern about the poor quality of the fuchsia pack. Customer Service is excellent. They stand behind their product. My pack was replaced within a few days. I took the new pack with me for two weeks to Europe. It was used everyday as a day bag and packed full as my carrry on for the plane. This bag holds a lot of stuff. The zippers are easy open easy close. Lots of pockets. My husband took his Venture Pal pack and it continues to hold up without problems. Anyone looking for a light weight pack should give this pack a try. They stand behind their product with great customer service. My original review - The bad: After I packed the pack for the first time, I lifted it with the lift tab at the top and it came detatched from the pack. It must have been barely stitched, because the stitches appeared to be intact. I decided I can live without the little lift thingy. However, when we got to our destination, I noticed the right shoulder was beginning to come loose from the seam. It's an inexpensive bag, but I thought it should last more that a weekend. The good: this little bag holds lots of stuff. The pack is perfect to carry everything I need for a casual 3 day weekend. The zippers work well. It folds up into its own pouch which makes it convent to carry in a suitcase or other bag. Except for the minor defects in mine, it's exactly as described in other reviews. I purchased a black one for my husband and he is very happy. 5 stars for his pack!!! He was also able to pack everything he needed for a casual 3day weekend in his pack. I have returned mine, but am reordering with the hopes the defects in mine were just a fluke.

Don't be scared by the price - this is a great product.
I do not leave many reviews, and I am very picky about my backpacks. There are too many bags that clearly have been designed by someone who does not actually use backpacks to carry books, papers, or whatever . . . I find that unforgivable. I suspect that this product was designed by someone who shares my frustration since this backpack has details and features that many absurdly expensive backpacks somehow lack. (Double zippers, for example,) Convenience, unexpected details that enhance this product's usefulness, and durable construction all make this a product that does not disappoint. Frankly, even as an ultra-light backpack, I prefer this to some of the heavier - and far more expensive - bags I routinely use. When folded up, this isn't really much of a tote bag. That's really not the point, however: the bag is so compact that throwing this into a piece of luggage to bring on vacation a no brainer. On my last vacation, this bag proved itself to be invaluable as an extra backpack each to take along as a precaution for excursions, for shopping, for short hikes, or for the beach. Because it's so light and compact, bringing it is easy and no big deal if it did not get used. From the first time I used the bag, I was impressed by its solid construction and thoughtful design. Its versatility allowed it to essentially outperform substantially more expensive daypacks I had also brought. The low cost of this bag makes this an outrageously good deal. I am pleased to be able to recommend this product without hesitation. Usually, deals that seem too good to be true ARE. I gambled on bought this bag, and I am very very glad I did so. I look forward to giving this out as stocking-stuffer gifts in December.

Light and large
I use this as a weekender, usually just going to hotels or friends houses etc. Previously, I was using a MOLLE style tactical backpack and it was at least 4 lbs empty, this thing is ounces, so my bag weighs 30% less no matter what. Big pocket has smaller pouches inside to make a section for socks and shirts and such, while the big area holds 3-4 pairs of shorts and pants. The outside upper pocket holds my small electronics well, but the lower front pocket is a strange place. When the inside is packed, it really pushes on the front lower pocket's interior pouches and makes them hard to use effectively. Putting the pouches on the opposite side of the pocket would probably alleviate the issues. The handle that is used when the backpack is converted to tiny mode is also in this lower outside pocket, just hanging out in there. It doesn't really have a use there and just looks like a second thought. Would someone actually carry it by this handle if it was in tiny mode? Probably not. A tiny clip or a small loop of cloth w/caribiner would be nice in this pocket for long trips to keep your house or car keys safe when you know they won't be used for a week or so. Overall the only thing that needs work in a future revision would be the front lower pocket. I don't really convert to tiny mode, so I can't comment on that. I did black sharpie the the bright logo on my black one, mostly because I prefer subdued look to help me be less visible in a crowd. So, a reflector free and pure black option would be nice as well. I've packed this bag probably 20 times in the 8 months I've had it and it's holding up, no damage to report. The zippers are top quality, have a solid feel and sound. Straps are fine, some padding but it's so light fully loaded, any more padding isn't really necessary. The water bottle side pocket is pretty short, can hold a 12oz bottle, but the big ones everyone uses nowadays are too tall for the pocket, it feels like a big bottle would just fall out, maybe a tiny clip strap to lock your bottle in here would be nice, but I mostly use that pocket for used snack wrappers and napkins etc.

Tried and true backpack for travel and hiking
I bought this backpack to take on a cruise in 2022. Since then, I've started using it for hiking as well as it holds everything I need for a day hike and it's water resistant and not nearly as heavy as my daypack. I'm not sure it holds 35L, but it holds what I need. I've been taking it on flights as well as my "under the seat" personal item. It fits under the seat nicely, although I never have it stuffed full - usually my purse and camera. I've carried my DSLR and a zoom lens in there, which are kind of heavy, and I've never had any issues with straps tearing. I do agree that it would nice if the straps were a bit padded because it's not comfortable with a heavy load, however, I doubt that it would be foldable and that is a nice feature to have. It started out as my travel backpack and now it's my for everything backpack. I've used it a lot over the last three years and I highly recommend it. FYI...I don't do reviews as soon as I receive an item - I try them out first. This is a keeper.

The perfect foldable travel backpack!
This is hands down the best travel backpack! I love how it folds up compactly and fits easily into a suitcase, making it a perfect addition to any trip. It's incredibly functional and easy to refold, which is a huge plus. While the fabric isn't super thick, I’ve had this backpack for years without any rips or quality issues—it’s surprisingly durable! The size is just right for hiking, weekend trips, or all-day excursions. It doesn’t have built-in security features, but the pockets are well-placed, and I’ve never had any issues keeping my items secure. I loved it so much that I bought another one in a different color! My only small complaint is that it doesn’t hold its shape unless it’s fully packed, and the straps have minimal padding. That said, as a chronic overpacker, I really appreciate that it folds down into a tiny square to save space. I highly recommend this backpack and often suggest it to friends. If you need something lightweight, packable, and reliable, this is a great choice!

This is a great buy!
I have a bigger version of this backpack that I use more, but I like this one as well. It’s a strong, well-made backpack that really comes in handy for trips. Sometimes I travel with a tote bag or a regular backpack. I like to take the foldable backpack as well because sometimes I get tired holding up my tote bag on one shoulder when this backpack easily uses two shoulders and is waterproof for those unexpected European showers. Many pockets inside. Two side pockets for water bottles or an umbrella. Straps that tighten and buckle them in securely. This is wonderfully lightweight and a good deal.

Perfect for Lots of Uses
I bought my pack in September 2017.. It has been on all 7 continents 🌎plus above the Arctic Circle❄️ It shows no wear. Is highly flexible on what you can pack in it. I have even wrapped my Nikon DSLR camera and a separate lens in multiple towels to carry separately. It is soooooo light weight but durable. It is not waterproof though. You put a lot in this pack! You will love it! It is the PERFECT SIZE to put under seat on plane. This pack, through my world travels, is the best purchase I have made. I also you it for hiking as my Camelback water bladder fits in it perfect. Cross country ski pack too! Enjoy

A light-duty backpack 🎒
I just used this backpack as my sole packing device, over the 3-day 2023 Xmas weekend. This 35-liter backpack was a bit snug, but it was tolerable. 40 liters would have worked better. I have three issues with this backpack: 1. The backpack color received was nowhere close to what I ordered. The color shading was way off from what was posted on Amazon. This was disappointing. 2. The backpack material is very lightweight and I question the longterm durability. This unit is rather inexpensive for a reason. Material cheapness is the main factor. 3. There are two open side-pockets inside the main compartment. It would have been nice to have at least one zippered side-pocket. I'm not a fan of the two open pockets. One would have sufficed, with the 2nd being zippered. If you're wanting an inexpensive light-duty daypack, you might find this backpack sufficient. For a few bucks more, you can find a far superior backpack, instead of this one. I returned this off-colored backpack immediately after the 3-day stint and purchased a 40-liter backpack from a different brand. This other brand's backpack cost was negligibly more, and it was far superior to this light-duty one. GRADE: C-
