Review: Simple, Powerful, and Life-Changing - Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It by Kamal Ravikant is a short yet profoundly impactful book that delivers a simple but essential message: self-love is the foundation for a happier, healthier life. The author shares his personal journey through struggle, despair, and ultimately, transformation—all by embracing the practice of self-love. What I love about this book is its practical approach. It’s not just theory; Ravikant provides actionable steps, including meditation, affirmations, and mindset shifts that anyone can apply. The writing is raw, honest, and deeply relatable, making it easy to connect with his message. If you're looking for a book that is motivating, uplifting, and easy to implement, this is it. A must-read for anyone on a journey of self-improvement and inner healing! Review: "Seek simplicity. In simplicity lies your truth. In truth lies your greatest power" - As a Brit who lived in California for a long time, I've been on the stiff upper lip AND the "self-help" side of the fence. This book resonated with me with a capital "R" (partly because my own life philosophy is very simple and very clear: Keep it simple, be kind, and keep (being) thankful for the good things and people in your life). Kamal Ravikant's book stands out for 3 main reasons: Its truth/honesty, its wisdom, its simplicity. And he writes beautifully too, so it's a breeze to read. I didn't buy it because I'm going through a dark patch (I'm not) but if you happen to be, it just might dig you out of a hole, switch on a light, clear the clouds. Bring some blue into sight where there was dark grey. If you're in life's stagnant, stuffy waiting room, it's like a big blast of oxygen. Deep but not heavy, light but not "lite" Kamal talks about experiencing what you choose through the filter of LOVE. We humans are good at playing negative thought loops over and over in our heads, like the grooves in an old LP - and when we replace the negative loops with positive ones that's when things start improving and it all starts to happen. "Love is all you need". Put your oxygen mask on first, love yourself first, and see... This is probably one of my favourite books for quite a while and at under £2 for the Kindle edition, well worth dipping your toes into. I love(d)it.

Simple but true
This book was a very quick read but the p[ower of the words and idea have stayed with me, and I can honestly say have begun to make a difference to me. The first area I have noticed since making a clear and positive effort to Love Myself, have been in the area of health. In today's world, where almost every interface with the world outside of ourselves appears to be one of chaos and complication, it is so very easy to get swept along leaving very little time to really love yourself and take the time to remaind yourself of that essential part of being alive in the world. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to find themselves again and seek out the first steps toward that goal.

Wise words from a wise man
A short read but a very worthwhile read if you can't remember the last time you were happy and felt fulfilled with your perception on life (i.e. you're being hard on yourself with self-talk and low energy). The author went through a particularly traumatic period in his life but managed to pull himself free. Takes less than an hour to read but in some ways this is it's main attribute. I read this yesterday and have not had a negative thought that I have allowed into my focus since that time. This is quite unusual for me. The main principle before the book is to repeatedly tell yourself "I love myself" almost in every waking breath - the author (a silicon valley entrepreneur) states that this will concentrate the mind on developing a new thought pattern which will, through persistence, override any negative thoughts that consume you (the analogy of a river cutting through rock over time is used). This will eventually override all the negative chatter that you tend to allow into your mind. This is a quick summary but if you are currently in a bit of a rut/going through a difficult period in life then do read the whole thing as it outlines some additional techniques which will become useful to build this effective habit. Well worth a couple of pounds - due to the short length but to be honest if it benefits you long-term then could be priceless. Done.

So important
This book has changed my life. There are just 3 simple exercises to do each day, I do them and the results are I feel like a different person. I have started reading lots of different self help books over the years. At 67, the title jumped out at me so I committed to finishing the book and doing whatever was asked of me, and it was worth it. It's well written in a simplistic style and the author shares his own highs and lows. If you or anyone you love has self esteem issues, buy the book, read it, do the exercises daily and feel the benefits.

OK but not as good as described
The book starts out well and feels very positive but could easily have ended with the first section which was the original and basically booklet size. The rest is drawn out, repetitive and a lot about the authors experience which starts to get boring. The same sentence is written multiple times - how many times do we have to read about his ‘rug flip’? I’ve read far better including Wayne Dyer who he includes word for word near the end. Not really worth the price especially as he is really just telling you to keep repeating ‘I love myself!’

God bless Kamal, you left a lump in my throat or 2 💕 l bought this book awhile ago because of the reviews, but only browsed through it. I decided to do something radical, read & listen to this book. It is very special & spoke directly to my heart, what you think of yourself, community, your predicament, challenges, the World is what you end up with. I've read & listened to 100's of books in the. last few years about mindfulness, Spiritually trying to find something that in modern language that speaks to me, parables, Koans, aphorisms are great, but there truth is hidden to most. This is beautiful, read and listen to this as the narrative was brilliant. I love myself & all of Creation & l thank a power greater than myself to of found this book, Kamal & all of you beautiful people x🙏❤️

Received this book a couple of hours ago and I just can't let it down! I hesitated to get it because I'd read some comments saying it was a bit repetitive, but I don't find it is, or maybe I needed to pause and drill the "I love myself" phrase in my brain! If you're dealing with self-love and self-esteem, this is a really good pick, easy to read and it will make you feel good from the first pages.

It makes it easy to implement the advice Kamal gives. I really liked the second part of the book - as he predicted - when he stumbled and got lazy with the positive habits he recommended years ago in his first edition of the book. He describes exactly how he got out of the deepest mental and emotional hole within a month (!) and takes the reader with him. Thank you for sharing, Kamal. 🫶 This is so helpful!
