Western Digital My Book external hard drive 8000 GB Black

I've been using WD My Book and this unit is way much cheaper than market price.

This hard drive works as advertised and is fairly fast, great for my needs.

It is 7.2 TB not 8

I purchased the WD MyBook in mid-2023 with high hopes for reliable storage, but unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Less than a year into its use, the drive malfunctioned, resulting in the loss of important data that was irrecoverable. This incident left me incredibly frustrated and disappointed, especially considering this is the second WD product to fail me in such a short period. Reading through other customer reviews, it's clear that I'm not alone in facing these issues. Many others have reported similar reliability problems, often stating that the cost of repairs exceeds the price of purchasing a new drive altogether. This cost-effectiveness concern adds insult to injury, as I now find myself in a situation where I've not only lost valuable data but also need to invest in a replacement drive.

Easy to set up, good copy speed, works well

Bought this My Book Duo with 20 TB back in 2021. Since a few weeks, there's something seriously wrong with its fan control. The fan is spinning loud, but the disks and housing get very hot. I solved it by putting the disks in an old 16 TB WD Mybook Duo enclosure. More people are reporting this, see the WDC forums.

Ansonsten lese ich jede Bedienungsanleitung, aber die WD Produkte laufen schon los, nachdem man sie mit dem Mac verbunden hat. Ein Traum für mich. Mein WD wird von Time Machine gesteuert. Der Lärmpegel beim stündlichen Backup nervt manchmal. Sobald das Backup beendet ist und der Lärm aufhört, dann hört man die Ruhe im Zimmer. Würde ich, bei dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, trotzdem wieder kaufen.

Whenever I need an external drive, I always buy Western Digital as I've found they're always the most reliable. This 18TB drive is no exception and the price was a real bargain for the size of the drive. The drive is a little noisier than my smaller 8TB and 4TB external drives, but that's not big deal since it's only used for backups. The drive did come with a UK plug since it was sent from Amazon UK, but I simply emailed WD and asked if they could send me out an AU adapter, which they kindly did without hesitation.

Extern hårddisk som gör vad den ska. Man behöver inte formatera den. Det följer med programvara för både windows och mac att installera om man vill. Dessa filer ligger på hårddisken. Personligen har jag ingen nytta av dom då hårddisken fungera perfekt utan. Perfekt för backup
