The Best Pikmin Yet
Pikmin 3, and the concept of controlling dozens of little creatures, is an idea that goes back as far as Lemmings for the PC back in 1991. The concept can appear a bit intimidating if you’ve never played the game but Nintendo has really honed it to perfection and even my four year old daughter has some level of modest success with the game. This time you can control up to three captains which lends an even greater level of complexity as you coordinate each captain as well as all the Pikmin. The new Pikmin type this time are pink flying Pikmin which are physically weak but open up interesting new types of gameplay. White and purple Pikmin are gone in story mode but put in appearances in Missions.Pikmin 3 is a gorgeous game and looks awesome even on a 65” UHD TV (Yes I know the Wii U doesn’t run games in UHD). I was concerned that it might look pixilated all blown up but it looks beautiful. The Pikmin series has always had a very lovely and calming atmosphere. Sure, the game can be frantic and nerve wracking but the foliage and ponds and music are very pleasant… until your Pikmin fall in the water and start to drown or get lit on fire. I sometimes wish there weren’t strict time limits on the days but I guess that’s mandatory given the nature of the game. It would be fun to simply explore. The story mode is awesome but it’s the missions that keep me coming back. Mission modes include Collect Treasure, Battle Enemies and Defeat Bosses. You have a limited amount of time to collect and defeat in order to earn medals ranging from no medal to platinum. It took me awhile before I gave the missions a try but once I did I was hooked. Unfortunately almost two thirds of the missions are DLC. If you get them all it will set you back over $10 but at least it’s legitimate DLC and not just data locked on the disk. The missions were worth the price for me and I got quite a bit of play time out of them.Nintendo has so many intellectual properties that a lot of great franchises end up going unused (I’m looking at you Advance Wars and Punch-Out!!) but Nintendo seems to be sticking with Pikmin and they’ve already stated that Pikmin 4 is near completion although no word on whether it’s for the Wii U or NX. I know it’ll be a must have for me.

A must own for the Wii U!
I never played any of the previous Pikmin games before this one and I always thought it was too childish. Oh how wrong was I!!I originally got this during Nintendo's Mario Kart promotion where purchase and registration with Club Nintendo allowed customers to choose from one of 5 games, so I also own this digitally. I started the game not expecting much and once you get past the first half hour, things get a whole lot interesting! The single player is very strong and replayability is very high, especially if you're an efficiency perfectionist. I knew had to get a physical copy after finishing the game, especially after this became a Nintendo Select because original copies were only available at outrageous pricesThe side missions are where I spent most my time because I had to platinum medal all of them, including the DLC missions. I never did get the platinum on a few levels, both single player and multiplayer. Multiplayer was an absolute thrill with my wife, who isn't into video games at all. What lured her in was the desire to efficiently accomplish everything with the cute little Pikmin before time ran out!If I had to play it all again, I would've done single player to learn the basics, did the side quests to master control of my Pikmin and orient myself to better multitasking, then finished up the single player as efficiently as possible. This is strategy gaming at its cutest and most lovable form and a must-have for any Nintendo aficionado!

Kill those Bulborbs!
I bought this game as an Easter gift for my 7 year old nephew. He found the Pikmin game my sister had bought him months ago and decided to play it one day and absolutely fell in love. He really wanted this one to try and I can definitely say it's gotten it's use since it arrived. I've played this game with him and honestly, it's a game the whole family can enjoy. I feel like it would probably difficult for most kids his age or younger but my nephew and niece are pretty skilled at video games. Even I get kind of confused on which Pikmin I'm supposed to be using but that's probably just because I don't play it like they do and I wasn't able to see the tutorials in game. It's a really nice game, too, because you can have a few people playing at a time. You can all help each other in the game and it promotes team work, which I REALLY LOVE! I think the names for the characters in this game are goofy and fun. Overall I just really like this game and think if there are any more that come out I wouldn't mind buying them for the family to play. I think this game has pretty awesome graphics for being a "kids" game. Just a really cool game!

Cant stop playing!
Im expanding my nintendo collection during 2020 quarantine and just recently got a Wii U. never played a Pikmin game before. I got this as one of those nintendo add on to my collection. started playing out of curiosity and after entire nights of non stop playing from dusk to dawn, I can say I love Pikmin. this is one of the best games I ever played. period. this made me order the two previous game and become a absolute Pikmin fan. absolutely recommended. play it even on 2020. don't wait for the game to be released on the switch. and even if its eventually re released, this is a must Wii U game! playing with the gamepad is super intuitive and super fun.

Family Favorite
This game has become a family favorite for my five year old son, and also his mother and father. :-) The story mode is great for one player and there are also multiplayer modes. The best multiplayer mode is bingo battle by far. It is impressive how they have made it so each board is a little different every time with which bad guys and items are are on it, and you can adjust for ability by changing the number of pikmin you start with (and if needed you can have the more experienced player not use cherries for the random bonus items). I do wish that you could play Bingo battle online. There are also three other multiplayer possibilities that are also single player if desired. This is one of my very favorite games for the Wii U. Money well spent.

Unique in a great way.
Now I'll preface this review by admitting, I am solely basing it on the approx. 2 hours play I put in playing it last night as a first time PIKMIN 3 player, I have not played any of the previous games in the PIKMIN series, but WOW, what a joy, and this is coming from a 47 yr old gamer who's favorite game series is RESIDENT EVIL. The game gently teaches the introduction of new game rules and happenings, and it barely feels like a tutorial at all. The premise is somewhat "Metroidvania-ish", in that you need to learn new rules & skills to progress in the game and gain access to new areas that were previously inaccessible, all wrapped in a format that very cleverly promotes the use of the screen on the touchscreen gamepad, as well as your primary TV screen. So far its been great fun, the super cutesy aspects of the protagonist and the PIKMIN's had my girlfriend laughing out loud often, and even blood & guts fan me, smirking more often than my usually "M" rated gaming tastes would have me admit. I'm already considering stopping playing PIKMIN 3, and buying the previous PIKMIN games and enjoying them in order. A pretty strong endorsement for a few hours of play so far I'd say. If the game takes any serious turn for the negative that I feel potential buyers should know, I will update as needed, but this my honest take on PIKMIN 3 as of so far. A purchase I made only because of PIKMIN's overall good reputation as a game series, and so far I'd surmise that rep is well-deserved.

Fun spin on a problem solving adventure game with great 2 player options
Pikmin 3 is my first experience with the Pikmin story line, so I don't have the legacy titles to compare it with, but I can say that this game is a lot of fun and can keep your interest for hours. The basic premise is that after crash landing on a planet, you meet pikmin creatures who love to follow you around and do your bidding. You collect more and different types of Pikmin which have different skills (some the break glass, some can swim, some just collect, etc) and you use those different types to solve puzzles and explore the planet. The basic controls are fairly simple with one button for summoning, one button for throwing, one button for switching Pikmin, and then the analogue sticks for controlling movement and camera angle. There is also a time based aspect to the game where you need to solve the puzzle before night falls, or risk losing your pikmin to night critters. The multiplayer (2 player only), is also a lot of fun with options for playing competitive splitscreen (Bingo) or a cooperative mission mode where you need to work closely together to solve puzzles. The multiplayer isn't immediately available, but will show up after completing your first day on the planet. I'm usually pretty picky (pun intended, sorry) when it comes to long-running adventure style games, but found this one to be a perfect blend of challenge and fun. I highly recommend it.

Love this game for it's ease of entry, and enjoyable coop with my girlfriend
This is the only way I can get my girlfriend to play video games with me! She loves this game, and it's an entertaining adventure for us to enjoy together. For the Wii U sequel, several new additions have been added to help make the micro-managing easier than before. Players now have three space explorers to swap around, each capable of carrying a finite amount of Pikmin. Not only does this allow for completing multiple tasks at once (one leader can direct Pikmin to bust down a wall, for example, while another uses their Pikmin to build a nearby bridge, while the third can go gather important supplies like fruit or Piktamin), it is also necessary to completing multi-party puzzles (one leader can throw another to reach a previously inaccessible area, Pikmin included) .

Instant masterpiece
It is a breath of fresh air to play as your three koppaites captains and it also brings back to childhood to try and not lose pikmins the addition of the rock and flying pikmins are well thought out even though the flying pikmins may be too broken for its own good as I could easily find a work around obstacle and skip parts of the things that is gonna block you from progress and the rocks may not always respect their mechanics I.e. shaggy long legs (four legged spider boss) since they are impermuable to crushing dammage
