John Deere GY00115 Mulch Cover Fits 100, D, L, and LA Series Mowers w/42" Decks

Using on a John Deere D-105.It's cheap, easy to install and I didn't have to change my blades. It does leave little sporadic piles of clippings but barely noticeable. I suspect if I change my blades to mulching blades it would rectify that minor complaint. I am leaving it as is until I need to replace my blades.The real test will be in the fall when the leaves drop. I plan to mulch them this year rather than bagging them as I've done in the past.I will update this review then. I hope you find this review helpful.

I’m a 77 year old widow and wanted this for my John Deere riding mower. After watching several you tube videos on how to install, I did install it. After the first mow, I noticed leaves blowing out the side, so I put a piece of gorilla tape over it and it works great now. It was the fit. Didn’t sit in the groove like it should. The tape pulled it into place.

I followed all of the instructions for this piece and also watched some of the videos that were posted for installation. I can't recommend this piece as it constantly would shift upward leaving a hole over the discharge. Furthermore, as this kit does not come with the correct mulching blades it did little in terms of mulching for me. Do yourself a favor and purchase the legitimate mulching kit for the BM2181642" deck from John Deere. The part number is BM21816 ([...]) and can be purchased from the local John Deere retailer or online for about $100 (comes with discharge cover and new mulching blades. I have had the legit mulching kit installed for a couple of weeks now and it does an incredible job of mulching. Leaves and grass are shredded into fine pieces as a proper mulching kit should do. Save yourself the headache and purchase the real kit.

Product was easy to install on the mower. Worth the money and very strong plastic. Works well.

I bought this Mulching Cover for our church John Deere Tractor D105 series. This cover fits perfect for the 42" mower deck. Unlike the previous Mulch Cover I return back to another seller, they sent the wrong Model GY20417 (mulch cover for a 48" deck) this Model, when installed, left an approximate 1/2" gap on one end. Our Tractor has a 42" deck. Thank you Sydenstrickers (seller) for a fine product. Also Thanks Amozon for good service.

This is an easy upgrade to your mower. It goes from a side discharge to a mulching mower in about 30 seconds. It's obvious to see that the mower deck was designed with this in mind. This is a heavy-duty piece of plastic and rubber. There's no need to change the blades. I mowed an acre and had zero issues with it. There's no little trail of discharged grass to show where I've been. I'm happy with this product and purchase. I would buy this again if needed.

OEM mulching cover. Nothing extra, nothing special. Taking it off and putting it on is a little bit of a pain, as the elastomers aren't very forgiving. The plastic is solid and fits well enough so you don't have much worry about accidentally stepping on it and ending up in the blade. Don't try this, by the way. The downside is that it doesn't have a lower hold down, so grass, propelled by the blade will build up and lift the lower edge of the cover, making the odd ball of grass drop onto the lawn. Annoying and imperfect in design, but hardly enough to make this not worth the money. It does what it does, and it does it well enough.

Easy install, I removed the 2 nuts holding the discharge chute and metal guard and the chute and guard came right off before installing the mulch cover. Couldn't have been any easier. My E100 came with mulching blades so I was all set. Mowing is a better experience now with much less dust when close to fences etc. Clippings are not visible now and and I assume that they will now feed my lawn as well as hold in moisture.
