National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of How

My grandson is in first grade, has a very curious mind and is doing a great job learning to read. This book is perfect because he is motivated to try hard to read so he can learn what is going on in all the great photos. He has no problem educating us all on the fun facts he read on his own.

Someone said it was inaccurate and that it was wrong in saying white sugar is cleaned and brown sugar is not. Actually one way to make white sugar is by purifying brown sugar to remove the molasses so I have “reported” their review. I find the book to be excellent. Unless someone has found inaccuracies other than the one cited about sugar, I feel it’s accurate on the level of understanding for which it is intended.

My 4 year old is reading and I wanted to find him nonfiction text. These National Geographic books are perfect for his reading level! The pictures are informative and engaging and the text itself is well written and easy to follow. I have purchased at least 10 of these books and my son loves them. The book itself is super sturdy too. Love that the font is large.

I give this 5 stars because the book really is excellent and my daughter loves it. Also, i congratulate the publisher on formatting the kindle version by showing the original layout (designed for a much larger size than iPad screen), and allowing users to zoom in on each section of text by tapping on it. However, it's still a clumsy interface. Half the time, when I press on the text to enlarge it to a readable size, the page turns instead. Also, the images need a zoom option too. All of this is probably not the fault of the book author or publisher, but the limitations of the kindle format itself. That's why I still give the book 5 stars. But wouldn't it be wonderful if kindle reader had the kind of zoom functionality that the dark horse comic book reader has? (In that app, when you are reading in zoomed in mode, the swipe gesture that would normally turn the page, instead moves the view to the next section of text or images. That's brilliant.)

Great book, but it was printed upside down from the cover. I bought it as a gift for my 8 yr old nephew. Hopefully he’ll think it’s funny and a little ironic

Bought this for my very inquisitive, intelligent, 6-year-old son. He LOVES it and every time he reads it he has to tell me all the things he learned. It keeps him engaged in reading for longer than his usual 5 minute attention span. We will definitely be getting more from this series!

The amount of information in this book is fantastic for kids curious minds!

Great book for children who can read and comprehend on their own. My 8 year old loved the book! Not for little kids to read or parents to read and explain.
