Whiskey Painter Pocket PaletteThis is indeed a nicely done paint box. I have wanted this small sized palette for quite some time—though I admit reducing my usual 24 paints to 12 has been daunting.This is a very small box—6 x 8 cm and about 1.5 cm in height. It easily takes 12 half-pans with the metal expansion bars holding all pans in place including those added in the center row, The box is very well made and painted well inside and out. On my example, the lid closes securely and lays perfectly flat. The thumb-ring as noted in one of the comments does stick out above the little metal dimple “feet” on the box. This is a minor design flaw as the box will rock on the table in use. Washes do bead in the mixing wells so a minor scrub with an abrasive cleaner looks to be needed. I have yet to do this.There seem to be two listing on Amazon for this same box…this one where Whiskey Painter is referenced in the title and sold by Bringing Ideas to Life, and another where the box is called “The Master Whiskey Painters Standard Palette”. I studied both of these listing and finally decided on saving more than $10 on this version…risking the “Authentic” tag and possibly being marked with the Whiskey Painters logo as it seems they are the same box otherwise. The bottom of my box has a sticker for Farquar International, and is otherwise unmarked.I am more than satisfied with the quality of this W&N Bijou inspired box and recommend it as a perfect on-the-go pocket palette. Add a daVinci Travel Brush and a pad of watercolor paper or sketchbook and this minimal kit (if you can ever decide on the perfect 12 paints!) will be a perfect travel setup.5 stars for quality of the box and value from this vendor.

Since I began watercolor painting, I have always wanted a Bijou box but they are really next to impossible to find these days. When I ran across this little palette on Amazon, I immediately put it on my wish list and then finally purchased it. It is just so cute and such a well-made little box! The cuteness of it is nearly overwhelming but it is also quite useful and I put in an additional four half pans to make it hold a total of 12. It was very easy to pop out the little rails and put in the extra half pans, then snap the rails back into place. I love it and it is so small and easily transportable! Now I am not so sad that I will never own a Bijou box...I have this and it is such a wonderful little palette for a simply great price. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves watercolor painting and needs to have a small and transportable palette.

What a great value! This purchase comes with two water brushes, two travel size water holders, four extra half pans, the palette box itself, and a soft cleaning cloth. The extra half pans and the pallet are each housed in little travel bags.The palette itself is the perfect size, smaller than the other palettes of this type. It feels substantial, not flimsy, in the hand. The lid closes securely, but there is a thick rubber band (with logo) that can go around it to secure it further. Like someone else mentioned, the lid DOES open past level, so you either need to hold it level or use their hack if you want to use the mixing wells. I love the extra “rail” device that keeps the pans securely in place, again unlike other pallets of this type where the pans slide around constantly. The ring on the underside keeps the pallet secure while you hold it, yet another thoughtful aspect of this product.Highly recommend!

I have always wanted to get the schmincke watercolor travel set but that was a little pricey for my tastes, especially when it comes to a palette of that size. So when I found this one I immediately went to go purchase it without hesitation.It arrived in a stiff plastic container to protect it from any damage which I thought was very nice. The palette itself has quite a bit of weight to it. Not heavy to the point it would be tiring to carry around but feels like the weight of two Altoids tins with mint in them (I know weird comparison). I originally had a travel tin palette from MEEDEN, their standard one, and it was not to my tastes. It had a additional metal plate in the middle so the pans could lock into place; however, added too much unnecessary weight which is why I like this palette even more. The metal inside is thin and acts like a divider rather than having a huge chuck on metal inside. It is obviously very tiny which is easy to take just anywhere and easily fits inside my pocket if I wanted to carried it that way. As some people already have, I made the middle portion have additional pans instead of using it for brush storage. It has two slightly concave wells for mixing space which is more than enough for me. I think the only downside of this palette for me is that when the palette is open the top portion with the wells lays at a slight slant. Not a deal breaker but of course gravity will take its course and merge your colors together if you plan to mix more than one color in each well. Other than that, it is a great purchase. Definitely will be thinking about investing into their other palettes when I get some more use out of this one.
