Birkenstock Women's, Gizeh Essentials EVA Thong Black 37 M

I love my leather Gizeh Birks and wear them everyday during the summer. I purchased the EVA version for a trip to SE Asia during rainy season because I needed my primary walking shoe to be waterproof. These were perfect—the fit is identical to normal Birks, but there is zero break-in time. First wear out of the box involved all day walking in hot and humid weather and I didn't experience any foot pain. I wore these every single day for a month in SE Asia, and they performed admirably (and still look great!) for miles of walking in both cities and rural areas as well as in repeated monsoon rains. Despite being incredibly lightweight (it's a bit shocking at first exactly how light they are), they are actually quite sturdy and hold up to some tough conditions while protecting your feet from the debris and dirt on the ground. While I wouldn't recommend for jungle hiking or rock climbing, these certainly hold their own if you do find yourself trekking through jungle terrain while wearing them (as I found out on more than one occasion). When my current pair wears out, I will definitely be purchasing again. I'm so happy that Birkenstock makes a waterproof Gizeh, and amazed that none of the comfort and cushioning of the original was sacrificed in the EVA version. Highly recommend!

This is actually my third purchase of the same shoe(different colors)! Very comfortable and wears well. I walked 15000 steps at Epcot Center without any foot fatigue. I’m taking them to Italy as well!

I can't wear traditional birkinstocks because the cork/leather make my feet too sweaty and then they really start to smell (TMI, sorry). However, they're so trendy right now so I was really happy to find these EVA ones! Aside from the material, they have the same design as traditional birkenstocks and I think the fact that I went with a neutral color (black) instead of a brighter color means they do look like traditional birkenstocks on my feet. They have a hard plastic feel that's not sticky or cheap feeling (they don't feel like jellies, for example) and they wipe clean really easily. My foot rubbed a little bit on one of the straps the first few times I wore them but now they're perfectly comfortable and I can wear them walking the dog for a mile or two with no problems. The straps are adjustable on the side, which was nice. I normally wear a size 6.5 or 7 shoes but based on other reviews, I went with the 6-6.5 and they fit perfectly. Overall, I really like these - they're great quality for the price and I would definitely recommend!

I had a pair of these Birkenstocks in blue and wanted another color. I absolutely love them. They are made with the best arch support and I get a lot of compliments on them! They are a little pricey, but they are made well and our waterproof👍

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks ever. I was a bit skeptical due to the price, however they are quickly becoming one of my favorite pairs of sandals. I live on the central oregon coast, and rain or shine I get to wear these sandals without fear of ruining them. I have worn them in a communal shower, at the beach, and around town. The high arch support was hard to get used to, and now that I have worn them a significant amount of time they are starting to mold to my feet and become much more comfortable. There is a definite break in period, at least that was my case. They also tend to make a lot of noise after they get wet and if my foot tends to be a bit sweaty. All in all, I hope have a sandal that will last me for years to come.

Misformed? I've owned several of these without incident. Same exact style. All I can think is this item is defective. Hurt my toe with very little wear.

This is my go-to shoe for life and I wish I could wear them to weddings but unfortunately I'm not hot enough to swing that. Caveat: I do love Birkenstocks. I wear them all the time. This is my fourth pair of EVA sandals. Of the EVA line, I have purchased two pairs of birkenstock arizonas and this is my second pair of birkenstock gizeh I also have worn and loved the regular cork/ leather arizonas and gizehs. Basically I love the support that birkenstocks offer, and these sandals do not disappoint. BEST PARTS SO functional!! These are SO light! and waterproof! I live by the beach and these are just the most perfect shoes for riding bikes, walking, swimming, showering, hosing off after getting sandy, gardening. So comfortable and practical. I wore these until they died and then promptly ordered a new pair. I also like how the gizeh can be sort of dressed "up" (humor me here folks) I think they would also be good for traveling because they're so light and durable and good for walking. The price! These last as long as my leather birkenstocks (I am a heavy wearer, I think) - at least a couple of years for a pair. My leather birks cost $100 + and they show the wear somewhat. These EVA ones are just $40 and just don't show wear? I think it's their washability? They just don't crease or otherwise look worn, but they do stretch out a little. (see below). THE WORST PARTS they do stretch out. I wear a size 38 usually and my last pair of gizehs flattened out somewhat after a couple of years. There was kind of a border of space all around my foot. Still, for $40, it was worth it. ALSO: These were the only shoes that fit me comfortably for my entire pregnancy. pretty sure I wore them the day I went into labor and then also home from the hospital. COMPARISON: My favorite EVA is the gizeh because it feels a bit more secure than the EVA arizona, and I think, a little dressier. However, I wish that the EVA Gizeh came in a narrow footbed - although it is supportive as is, I feel it could be even more supportive for me if it were a little narrower. My favorite non-EVA is the Arizona, though, I think it looks cuter on. The narrow cork footbed is like being hugged for me. I like the black color because it makes these plastic shoes look kind of like those really high end all-black leather birkenstocks that cost $200+. Basically you should buy these because they're super comfortable, functional, and look good. Size down!! they run large. I wear a 38 usually and I bought a 37 in these and I wonder sometimes if I could do a 36.

I absolutely love these! At first when they arrived I was a little bit disappointed as they were so light I wondered if I’d been ripped off, but then I put them on and I have barely taken them off since. They’re so light and easy to wear, I wear them as slippers around the house as they are so comfy, and I wear them everywhere else as well. They are also really easy to clean, I just run them under the shower head for a quick wash every now and then. I love how they look, they’re really stylish and go with any casual outfit as well as a pretty summer dress. While it’s warm these are my go-to sandals every single day, I can’t recommend them enough! Ps. Definitely size down when purchasing - I’m a 5.5 in normal shoes so went for a 4.5 and they’re great. *update* I wore these pretty much every day all summer. I’m wearing them again now it’s getting warmer and they still look as good as new after constant use a year on. Definitely worth buying! I will wear these until they fall apart then I’ll buy another pair straight away! *second update* I’m into my third summer of wearing these, they have lasted so well considering I had worn them for the previous two summers, non-stop. Last summer I was heavily pregnant and barely took them off and they still look pretty new. Well worth the money and beyond. I can’t believe the wear I’ve got out of these! *third update* I’m on my third summer in these and they still look great. There isn’t as much grip on the bottom now so I might have to consider buying some more soon, but these really are a lot hardier than they first appear! They’re so good!
