These are simply superior to the other fine tuners on the market. Can be used with either loop end or ball end. Adjustments are very fine, yet the adjusting screw length allows for a wide range of intonation. Installation is easy and uncomplicated. Your string length from tailpiece to peg is unchanged. And the hook will NOT break your string. Can't really do better.

As everything you get from Goetz, this fine tuner looks and, more important, works as promised. You don’t need a string protector with this Goetz’ , which is a big plus.

The Wittner hill model tuners have sharp edges on their hooks that can break loop-style E strings. Wittner sells tiny little plastic buffer parts, but they're almost impossible to install without special tweezers. Some people get a nail file and file down the Wittner hooks to smooth them.The Goetz tuners have a different hook that doesn't have the same sharp angles. So far my hope E string is doing fine. I think it will solve the problem.

Got this to replace my ball end fine tuner, and I am super satisfied with it. It dampens my violin less, and it turns smoothly. Easy to set up as well.

Fine tuner is too short for my tailpiece. The lever does not protrude far enough to expose the notch. Therefore I have no way to hook the loop of the string.

I thought the Goetz tuner would not have the problemsthe Hill tuners have; I was wrong; after working the stringlever a great deal, it still was not free enough to move easily
