Price was right... they only last a couple years bit if they are working it keeps small rodents out of my garage

My rat infestation is back. Last time I had to have a pest control guy come out and, of course, he killed the critters, which is rather awful. This time I didn't want to have to kill them, but none of my other sound repellent devices were working, so I forked up the $30 for this one, hoping it would be more effective. It's not a silent device ... even I can hear it working. Its buzzing noise is rather annoying, so I hoped it would do its job. But the rats have stayed, multiplied, and made themselves at home in my garage. Worse, they've found a way into the walls and have even somehow gotten into the upstairs bedroom. So much for driving them away!Oh yes, and the neighborhood cats sit, enthralled, in front of my garage door because of all the ratly antics they can hear inside. If I could only charge for the rat show, I would be making a bundle, but alas, no one's interested in paying to see rats run up and down and across a garage door and distribute leavings every which place, or frolic in my storage boxes where they are no doubt destroying things. The cats would no doubt like to help me with my problem in the typical feline fashion; however, I'm looking for a less fatal solution.It seems pretty cruel to kill those cute little rats with their pink noses and their white bellies. They sniff each other and scratch behind their ears, just like my dogs. Hating to take my dad's advice (which is to kill the critters again), I just purchased a catch and release trap. The rats are ruining my garage, infesting the crawl spaces in my house, and who knows what they might manage to do in the upstairs bedroom. So I am hoping a catch-and-release device will work.I tried to get a trap that is ventilated so the rats won't die before I can set them free in an open field that's several blocks away. (Please don't tell me the rats will just come right back to my house. I'm hoping their sense of "home" isn't very good. If not, I will have to open a rat circus in my garage and charge entry fees.)

My husband brought this home from the thrift store and it worked so well I have purchased 3 more. I assumed it would not work like other plug-ins that didn't work. But this is a big unit so I humored my hubby. After 2 days I didn't believe what I sensed: less mouse activity. We went away for a week to return to NO MOUSE ACTIVITY in the room. We then purchased the others and have no activity on the top floor of our house. I am also using essential oils also but the oils didn't work this well on there own before. We cannot stop their food sources: dog upstairs and bird downstairs.* We still have mice on the main floor and in the basement so I plan to purchase more. I am afraid that moving the ones I have will just move mice around and this is working. It's really working! I hope to update with more good news.*So far it doesn't bother our dog or bird.

After finding that my '63 Continental convertible had become a mouse metropolis while parked in our barn over last winter, I started trapping mice. After catching an average of 3 mice a DAY for two weeks, I decided to try one of these. I put this in two weeks ago and have caught exactly ZERO mice since, and seen no further evidence of mice. This thing kicks mouse butt.My barn is a modern steel one, with a concrete floor, and I have this positioned so that one speaker points along the front past the main door, and the other down a clear path on one side. I expect the concrete and steel help the sound reflect around the inside - I have traps placed all over the barn (24' x 36').But it is not silent; it sounds something like a quiet refrigerator or old TV running. It is not very loud, and when my compact refrigerator in the barn turns on I can't hear it over the reefer. But I would not want it in my bedroom or in a room I was trying to work or watch TV in. We also have dogs and I would be concerned about how it might affect them.So it's an excellent device, I just knocked off a star for them saying it is silent when it is not really. I'm ordering another for a second outbuilding now.Winter is coming, and the mice will really start trying to move inside, so more time will tell how good these things really are - I'll update my review if they don't keep working.UPDATE 12/9/12: Cold weather did in fact turn up a few mice. I've trapped about 1 or 2 a week during the really cold weather, but still WAY down from before. The traps that got the mice were in places that were along a wall and shielded from the PestChaser, all the traps out in the building haven't caught any.The 2nd unit is in a stable with loose dirt floors, and it is less effective there. I have caught a few mice about 20' away in sight of the unit, but it's still worthwhile.

Works well and lasts for several years. I have purchased a few over the years.

I used this product, and while I assume it had been repelling rodents - although I did spot two while using it - it just randomly stopped working one day just after I unplugged it, and immediately plugged it back in. This happened today, less than three weeks after the return window had closed on November 6, 2024. It now feels like a waste of money because I can’t replace it, unless I buy another one.

This product is terrific for dealing with rodent issues. The non-toxic method of repelling pests appealed to me a lot. I really appreciate its flexible placement options, and I've used it in both my attic and garage. The high frequency sound it emits is a huge plus, and thankfully, it's inaudible to humans. I find it ideal for large spaces like basements and warehouses too. All in all, it's a highly effective product, very satisfied with its performance.
