Q: Is this suitable for a monopod

This should be suitable for using on a monopod, depends on the diameter of the screw on your monopod, Regards,

Q: What plate would you recommend i use with this. i have a canon r6

arca Swiss plate or standard L bracket this clamp would either screw on top of a tripod ball head or what I used it for was to screw it on top of my fluid head on a tripod so then I could pan left right up down with this clamp.

Q: how many turns of the knob does it take, to go from fully open to fully closed?

Two complete turns fully opens or closes it

Q: Does the plate for this slide in from the side or should you be able to drop it in?

With the L bracket I have, I can drop it in to this plate. However not all L brackets do, they have to be slid in as they're a fraction too big. Just depends if that bothers you.
