Who has run one of these for over two years? I see lots of posts where they crap out after a month or after a year. Im curious about longevity?

I have about 10 uninterruptible power supply units. Most of them use 2 batteries (but a couple only have 1 battery). I have used this brand -- and some other brands -- I do not recall having any that quit after only a year or two. I put labels on the batteries with the "in service" date ... and most last 4 or 5 years. A couple (I forget the brand) lasted over 6 years. The honest truth is that I haven't paid a lot of attention to the brand. These sealed lead acid batteries tend to be made with similar technology (Absorbed Glass Mat) and I have not discerned any particular qualitative differences between brands, so long as the basic specifications match. I purchase the lower priced models of the required power specification, when I need replacements. That said... it is always possible that a defective battery might be received that may seem to work OK, but then fails prematurely. I suppose this could happen to any brand ... and you can be sure that someone who bought a battery that failed 'early' would be most likely to post a negative review. (It is also possible for a defective battery to fail very quickly, within weeks or days -- I would hope the vendor would offer a replacement or at least a deep discount should that occur -- but I have never encountered a defective battery in any of the UPS units I currently have online. So, all I can say is that I have not had any particular difficulty with this particular brand (or for that matter any other brand) of sealed lead acid batteries. Note: if these are used in some other type of service, you may have a different experience. Use in "uninterruptible power supply" does not cause a deep draw down as would use as a starter battery in gasoline powered device. I have no experience with one of these batteries in that sort fo service.

If i’m connecting this battery to a device using alligator clips, which style is preferred, the f1 or f2? thank you.

The model number PS-1270F2 -- ends in "F2" which is the clip size required by this battery. Technically these are not "alligator clips" (those are often used in temporary connections with spring-loaded "jaws" that resemble an alligator's mouth). The battery is designed for "Faston Tab" connectors that is a flat blade type terminal. These come in two sizes, F1=Faston Tab #187 (.187 in. wide), or F2=Faston Tab #250 (.250 in. wide). There are adaptors available to allow one type of connector to gas the other size terminal, however it is recommended that batteries be purchased to match the tab size required for your application. (Using an adaptor simply adds more metal surfaces that are potentially subject to corrosion and possible electrical interruptions.)

Is there a version with more amp hours that lasts longer? Using in my alarm box...

If the connrcters are compatible and you have the room in the box, you can go as big as the space you have.

What is the shelf life?

A sealed lead-acid battery (such as this) can have a very lengthy shelf life. The ideal storage temperature is 50 degrees F/10C (or less, but above freezing). The battery should be fully charged when placed on the shelf -- and (IMPORTANT) it should be recharged regularly, at least every 6 to 9 months. (Such batteries discharge about 3% of their capacity each month.) IF properly cared for, a "stored" battery might last as long as 10 years, but in practice, outside of ideal conditions, it could be much less and that depends on what parameters have not been met. Note that complete discharge of the battery (failure to recharge every 6-9 months) may render the battery unable to hold a charge after 18 months to 2 years. You can check the vendor's web site or search online to get more details beyond this summary.

I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews on some of this seller's (eComElectronics) products. Several folks have complained of receiving a replacement battery that was not the item described (or they didn't read the description carefully). I carefully reviewed replacement batteries for my APC Backups ES 500VA (BE500U) unit and found out that many folks have ordered batteries from many different sellers (including eComElectronics) and then found out that the terminal size was incorrect. I have used Power Sonic batteries in the past, and have found them to be top notch in quality and longevity, and was specifically looking for this battery. eComElectronics had the very best price on this battery, and it is the exact replacement for any APC unit that uses the RBC2 (APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #2) in specs and dimensions. The terminal size (F2 - also called T2) is 1/4" wide and is the issue when many buy batteries for replacing the APC RBC2. The most popular battery sold on Amazon for replacement of the RBC2 is the UB1270 battery, and it does NOT have F2 terminals (it has F1 terminals that are smaller). Many complaints are because of loose fitting connections between the battery terminals and the battery cables. The difference in the size of the terminals is the reason (F1 vs. F2) for this. If you want a top quality battery that replaces the APC RBC2 battery, you can feel confident that eComElectronics will ship this exact battery, and it will fit and work perfect in any APC device that uses the RBC2. The price can't be beat and shipping was lightning fast. I will definitely be using eComElectronics for future purchases of my UPS battery needs. Be sure to read the descriptions of their batteries very carefully, and make sure you know what you need before ordering. Some of the batteries they sell are, in fact, replacement batteries for the items pictured (as noted in the written descriptions), not the battery pictured. This is NOT the case with this item.

7 years of good use. Highly recommend.

Just want to note that I bought this exact listing in May of 2018, and I'm just now replacing it in Oct of 2025. I probably SHOULD have replaced it sooner, but it was still holding a bit of a charge when power flickered. Its easy to install, and fits perfectly into, and is compatible with, my old APC Backups 400.

Look at the terminals

Battery came fast and was packaged securely. Just make sure you notice or look to see if you need the F2 or F1 terminal for this type of battery. The difference between F1 and F2 terminals is their width. You will need to get adapters if you purchase the F2 and you need the F1 terminals. When you only purchase this type of battery every few years, it is something you could overlook. I went to the local battery store near me, and they placed the adapters on for free even though I did not buy the battery from them. They even recycled my old battery.

I replaced a dead battery in my APC UPS with this one and so far it is working fine. The original battery lasted about 5 years and so time will tell if this one will last as long. One little grip is that the battery supplied did not match the photo shown and was from a different unknown supplier and not Power Sonic, which is a more widely recognized brand.

Le quedó perfecto a mi bocina recargable Samson xp106, ya no le duraba mucho la carga a la anterior (2 horas) pero con esta batería recargable nueva, otra vez le dura hasta 6 horas de uso continuo.
