We got two of these for our security gates. The gates have boxes that prevent bolt cutters from being used to defeat any lock. Frustrated, vandals sometimes use superglue or epoxy to make normal key locks unusable. With the Magnetic Padlock, most who try to destroy it will be thwarted by the lack of any keyhole. While not the stoutest lock, its unique method of unlocking adds an additional level of security.

Not heavy metal construction, but good enough to keep honest people honest. I use it indoors at my job; quicker access than a combination lock. I am not sure how well it would hold up in the elements or to abuse. The shackle only goes about 4 mm, at most, into the body of the lock.Acceptable price (14.99+tax), fast shipping, pretty quick arrival.It is a bit of a gadget. I like it, would recommend.

Out of the package, this lock worked as intended. But as a lock enthusiast, I was keen to see how well this lock held up to various means of keyless entry. After only a few minutes of messing around, the padlock got a little stuck, then wouldn't lock shut again. I played around a little more, and got the lock to shut, but then it wouldn't open. Determined to troubleshoot the issue, I was able to disassemble the lock with little effort, parts breaking off pretty easily. At this point, the pins were revealed, and after fully exposing the mechanism to determine the cause, I noticed that the pins could be removed very early on in the disassembly process, with quite large pliers. As far as the root cause of the malfunction is concerned, it seemed like two issues were involved. The spring-loaded lever arm and spring are magnetic, and I believe they may have been moved out of place, but this is just speculation, as these pieces immediately fell out of the lock once exposed. I was able to confirm that the keys' magnets were depolarized, as the pins were not lining up with the gates. It shouldn't be that easy to break into the lock, and it shouldn't be that easy to break the key. The availability / reliable accessibility of the lock is quite poor when put to the test, but if the obscurity of a magnetic lock can confound an adversary, the lock would probably have continued to function. At least you'll probably be able to tell if someone breaks your lock to get in.

These have been around for many years. A novelty for me and functional. Most people don’t know about it.

Customer lost a key to our other lock. This one replaced it perfectly.
