The Secret Garden [DVD] [2020]

This is a very beautiful and thought provoking film. It is not a remake of previous films but an adaptation of a much loved story and as such should be viewed on its own merits. As an adaptation it is (and should be) open to interpretation, by those who choose to spend the time, effort and money necessary in bringing it to the attention of a new generation. The casting, performances, cinematography and incredible attention to detail in costume and production design are to be applauded - would that more 'children's films' were so respectful of their audience!

The Secret Garden was always one of my favourite stories and this is a good version of the story which keeps many of the elements from the original story while making a few changes.

I love the story of The Secret Garden and this version didn’t disappoint. The magic robin was a little odd (!) but the characters were good.

Molti film sono stati tratti dal romanzo della mia infanzia. Tutti più o meno deludenti, ma questa versione vince il rpemio per il tradimento assoluto della volontà autoriale. persino un incendio finale che nulla c'azzecca con la storia. Pessima recitazione della protagonista femminile tra l'altro non bionda come la Mary Mary quite contrary della storia originale. Ci voleva un'autentica bellezza inglese, fine e angelicata
