Great 'repair' for our leather couch!
I should have taken before/after pics of my couch but I forgot! We have a grey leather couch, one we thought was all leather. Turns out parts are leather and parts are not. The parts that were not leather started to delaminate all of a sudden and looked horrible. I watched some Youtube channel that suggested using these leather paints to paint over the parts that were delaminated. I figured for the price of these paints it couldn't hurt to try and wouldn't make it look any worse than it did.I am happy to report it did fabulously! I had to order a few colors and mix them together (trial and error) to get the right shade to match our couch. I just used a small glass dish, poured the paints in and mixed them together, tested, adjusted colors, etc. It was SUPER EASY to do. This is not creating new leather, but because it is paint that is suitable to paint onto leather, it dries flexible. This is what makes it good to cover spots where the material has delaminated.Tips:peel off ALL flaking pieces of the material, even if it makes a larger bare spot.Paint a layer using a small "artist" style brush, so you have more control over where it goes.Let the layer dry before adding a new a layer. My first layer really kind of soaked into the fuzzy fabric, but other layers did just fine. I added about 5 or 6 layers. I waited several hours or overnight, mostly because I had to order new colors to try to make a better match. I think layers of some colors that were close but not quite kind of added some depth, since our couch is not a single shade of grey.Final layer add a top coat (matte, satin, or gloss). This one needs to dry overnight.End result, the bare patches are totally covered. Have withstood our dog laying on top of it (top of the couch). From a short distance, blends right in. You would not notice it unless you were looking for it. It feels rougher to the touch, but I will take that for a $30 fix over a $3000 replacement.

Shoe fix
This is a great product for the money I restored several pair of shoes and made decent money on them. The way it applies is great, it does not crack or run if it gets wet assuming you let it dry properly but goes a very long way.. very shinny if you donât want that go with the regular black.

Good Leather Paint
I used this to re-paint an old leather shoulder holster and the new strap I made for it. The holster already had paint on it but the strap did not.I used acetone on the holster prior to re-painting. The paint is super simple to use. You just paint it on like any other paint. Cleanup of the brush was easy with warm water (way easier than latex paint). It has a semi-gloss finish, I would say, but it looks good on an old-fashioned military-style holster. The first coat went on very smoothly. I did a second coat 24 hours after the first and I noticed that I can now see brush marks a bit (only on the smoother holster leather). I think the fresh coat stuck to the first coat more and so it didnât smooth itself out as well. Itâs barely perceptible and doesnât bother me a bit, but figured Iâd mention it.I used steel wool on the chicago screws and painted those with it, too. It seems to have adhered fine, but I doubt it will be very durable on metal.I canât speak to the long term durability at this point.

Brilliant product
I honestly did not know paint like this existed until recently. I was debating if I wanted to sink the cost of buying a whole new couch cuz the brown wasn't going to fit my room's makeover but my mind was blown when I found out I could just... Paint it a new color. It goes on very easily with a foam roller, and the roller is reusable between coats as the paint stays soft and slightly elastic when dried. Does take a couple of coats to completely cover the original faux leather. So far it's held up to being sat in, slept on, cats being on it, my 60lb mutt with all the grace of a drunk buffalo jumping on and off it. Literally my only complaint (that I won't take a star off for at all cuz this paint is amazing) is the bottles are TINY and kind of expensive đ my couch was large so it took several bottles to cover it all, 2-3 bottles per section, even being lazy and leaving some spots that are against the wall so not seen. Would be great if there were more bottle size options for larger projects purely for convenience cuz 4oz is comically tiny. Price is worth it for the quality, though.

Great color, great shine, but top coat gives a rubbery grippy feel
I used this leather paint with the Angelus top coat on a really beat-up instrument case I got used on eBay. I was really blown away by how good the case looked afterward. It looked almost embarrassingly new. But I probably should have skipped the top coat.Like a fool, I wanted to âprotectâ my awesome new finish, so on went the top coat. It looked great. But then.... (ominous minor chord).....Have you ever put on shorts and then sat on a Naugahyde seat in summer? Remember what happens when you try to get up? Yeah, that was what my instrument case was doing whenever I put it down on a smooth surface. NOTE: the finish stayed solid. There was no flaking or peeling, and that was impressive. But the whole thing now had an unpleasant rubbery, grippy feel. It had to go.I tried auto upholstery wipes - didnât work. I tried neutral shoe polish - made it worse. I even tried Renaissance Wax, which didnât work either. What finally worked - so far - was my husbandâs suggestion to douse the whole thing in baby powder and rub it in with a cloth. That seems to be working, or at least making it better. It does change the look of the finish. The specular and the saturation are both down, so what I have now is less shiny and more charcoal than black, both of which are fine with me.And of course my instrument case smells baby-fresh and is permanently protected from diaper rash. So thereâs that.I like this product but do be careful with the top coat. It doesnât feel as rubbery if you just stick with the leather paint alone.
