This is a great product.It does work as it states.It does not get warmer UNLESS the animal is on it. Otherwise, it's not going to feel very warm. (We situated our mat in a shallow cardboard box so we could build a blanket around the mat. That is what you see in the picture)The best time to check it is after the animal has been on it-- if it is WARM - then you will know that it's working.It keeps him warm enough in 15° weather 🤍The cord is safe. The materials are safe.I would not purchase another mat unless certified safe -- This is certified by electric (I'm not sure what it's called, however it's certified safe!)It would be highly unlikely that this product would ever cause a problem or catch on fire. Follow directions as it says do not plug into a strip. Make sure it's a direct outletThis is also made for outdoor use. Meaning a shed, a garage, any place that can get wet or has extreme elements.This company makes different heat pads for indoor or outdoor use.I've purchased quite a few products through k&h and I always highly recommend them!

We have an outdoor kitty and our winters get pretty chilly so we added this to his cat house. He has multiple areas where he can go and so when he goes to sit on this we know it is a choice. It puts out just enough heat to be warm and it stays at the same temperature at all times, it does not have an adjuster or a timer. We have it plugged into an outdoor extension cord and into our outdoor outlet because its own cord isn't very long. Its nice and flat and its easy to lay on, not large , definitely only for a cat and one cat, but enough to help him out with staying warm. And give us a peace of mind.

We bought this for our outside cats house for the winter. He loved it and stayed inside his house on most cold days. When he would come out, he would be all warm! It was easy to install and safe to use. This gave us a piece of mind!

Our neighbor's poor little tortoiseshell kitty is rarely allowed indoors (her owners seem to be too busy trying to get and stay stoned ... ) so she often takes refuge from the rain and cold inside our jalousied back porch. I got her this mat since it was getting so very cold (we're too allergic to kitties to bring her into our own house). She enjoys it very much, spending most of her nights and a fair portion of her days sleeping on it.Addendum: neighborhood kitty - not having been fixed like she ought to have been - has now deposited/is caring for four kittens on my porch. They also love this warmer (see additional photo). Thinking of purchasing an extra cover so I can change the bedding out more efficiently.Edit to the edit: before the kittens had been fully raised, the stoner neighbors moved out of their rental down the street - leaving their cat to fend for itself. 😒 We took over all the feeding and care for the lot, finding good homes for all the kittens at the proper time, then getting mommy kitty - whose name is Mocha - fixed, and given all her shots. Given her life before, she will not stay inside, [though we had to make her stay inside while she healed from her surgery, which was not easy (and somehow we don't seem to be allergic to her? which is a great mercy)]. This means she still uses this warmer through the cool months - contrary to typical cat behavior, she seems to prefer the cold, generally opting to sleep in the porch on this warmer over staying inside on a warm chair. She only comes inside to sleep on hot afternoons.

We bought this for a stray that adopted us. Not allowed in the house but want to keep her warm during the winter. Pad is hard but we put it under her bed. We live in the west coast and do not deal with snow or several days of below freezing weather

I put the K&H Pet Products Heated Extreme Weather Outdoor Kitty Pad in an outdoor shelter next to a power source for some feral cats during the winter. They used it all the time and seemed to love it. It's an excellent solution for keeping outdoor cats warm and cozy during extreme weather conditions. Highly recommend for anyone caring for outdoor or feral cats!

I purchased one for a feral cat last year and another one this year for the other feral cat (we live at a rural location). I have several insulated totes for the winter time, both with heaters for when it gets rather cold outside. Both work as intended, and are the 9"x12", 25W version.I should add, some comments mentioned that it appears the heat is always on, it never cycles off. I can confirm it it does cycle on and off. I control when the heaters turn on via smart plug, based on time (on at sunset, off at sunrise) and outdoor temperature. Since the smart plug monitors current, I can also see the heating element cycle on and off throughout the night. As a safety precaution, the smart plug is also set to turn off if it spots a high wattage reading.Overall, completely satisfied with the product.

My cat still loves to go outside. So we set up a foam insulated cat house, it is lined with wind proof blanket as well and this heat pad with a timer. It heats up at 730 am and my cat goes out and in there to just chill. It keeps his paws toasty and he even sleeps in his house. Our temperature dropped to -16/-28 with windchill.. it keeps him warm. Of course we call him every 20-30 mins to come in we dont want him just being outside for too long.

Wasn’t really what I expected as I’ve purchased a couple before in the past decade but worked extremely well with no issues and is still in good working condition few years later as I write this review

Resulto una mala compra. El artefacto casi no calienta y cuando le pones la funda, el calor es tan debil que no traspasa la tela y mis gatos no les pareció atractivo.

I liked the quality, the cord with anti-chew cord, the universal mounting feature.We have a hobby farm, as such we needed working cats to control mice, plus my wife loved the cats, I'm was not able to have them inside, stuffs me up.The 1st house has 2x4 walls in full insulation, vapor barrier and pine venier paneling, 2 rooms with heating pads and area with endless food and water. We sometimes have coyotes that come around, we play talk radio outside to deter predators , will not come around when voices are heard. I changed the house three times lastly adding a old fridge for feeding putting in some steps to make it easier for my wifes favorite cat get up stairs.My wife passed away 6 years ago, ,my boys love these cats, I do these changes to make caring for them easier, it's a labor of love . Our cats love their house, withstands temperatures in excess of 30 degrees below (F) and no draughts. They r pets and working cats. The heated waterer I bought from amazon willl better than a large heated watering bowl.
