Cook for Your Gut Health: Quiet Your Gut, Boost Fiber, and Reduce Inflammation

Disappointed. Too many foods that do cause inflammation, gut problems etc.
To look at this book it looks healthy and good food for your gut ,heart and inflammation as it mentions in this book. That said My objection are it says to use Canola oil, which is heated so high, and is considered a highly processed food that causes Inflamatiom and heart deceaseThen it says to use Agave, that is like eating high fructose corn syrup,( it’s deadly and in soda ) and not only causes clog arteries, and inflammation , and other problems. It does not matter even if it is organic.I notice I cannot find in this book anything about eating organic if you Can. There is so many chemicals in the air , why are we still eating them in our food!Strawberries are one of the heavily spray fruits, and the only fruit with seeds on the outside. If you can buy organic or grow your own in a pot your s as head of the game.It says here in a oatmeal recipe to add Brown and white sugar! Why, when you have healthy fruit with healthy sugar. Now your eating to feed diabetes, heart decease, and feed the bad bacteria in your gut!If anyone knew about health here, they should know that just these few foods cause problems with your Gut, heart, and inflammation.I have studied this for years. My husband who has always been slim and active has artery decease from eating the wrong food, and eating out and had a 4 way heart by pass at 47.He now is allot older and use to travel for business. Being thin he thought he could eat what he wanted , wrong. And eating the way this book tells you for your gut etc. he had the worse heart-burn and Drs could not figure it out.We have changed our diet, and it’s not like this anymore. I do cook all the time, and it doesn’t have to be fancy,The food has to be healthy, and fresh. All food is healthy till it’s processed, and put in a package. Also red meat is hard on your gut. Etc.As he now says , I have Never felt this good in my life. And his Drs can’t Believe how good his test scores are now. Also No processed food, low salt, stop the sugar junk. Stop the box cereals your eating a candy bar.I’m not saying to eat perfect, and we don’t always, but I’m very surprised by this book, and it looks very professional!I can tweak some of these recipes, but I do Not cook like this any more.We use to take vitamins for the pain of inflammation in our joints etc thinking we are getting older and everyoneComplains about the pain.We do not have pain anymore, and We are now great grand parents.I do not take any medication, but my husband does but it’s been cut way down.Food is medicine, but I do not think some of this food is. cannot recommend this book.

Not really fo Low Fodmap Followers...
I was really excited when I heard about this cookbook. As a longtime subscriber to Cooks Illustrated and lover of all things America's Test Kitchen, I couldn't wait to try the recipes. When it arrived l, however, despite saying on the cover as being for low fodmap followers, very few recipes were in fact low fodmap. So, if you're looking for a cookbook that is full of LF recipes this isn't it. If you're looking for one that is just better for overall gut health then this would be great. Really easy instructions, highlighted for dietary needs, everything looked yummy.

Full of useful information
Be sure to read the first part where FODMAP is explained in detail. So far, the recipes have been great!

3 Stars Because ... America's Test Kitchen. Recipes Not the Best for Difficult-to-Solve Gut Problems
I love America's Test Kitchen. I would choose one of their cookbooks on just about anything over any other cookbook, anytime. I'm in a master's program for functional nutrition now and have been a health coach for a long time, so I was really excited to combine the expertise in cooking with gut health. Many of these recipes look good but could not be used for the stringent diet needs of most people trying to heal their guts. In the beginning phases of healing many people need to cut out all grains and dairy. This was the reason I thought this was going to be a great resource. I was hoping for help designing meals for this population, but I will still have to alter the recipes. Glad for the instructions and insights, though, on cooking healthy food choices. Great ideas, but I will need to take them up a notch further.

ACID REFLUX HAPPY-AWESOME COOK BOOK STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND YUMMY
I bought this book a couple of months ago and barely started making its recipes. I love how organized this book is and straight to the point.I know most basics of cooking which is why it's fairly easy for me to follow the recipes but it's still such a satisfying feeling to cook healthy things that you know won't affect your GERD. My husband has been going crazy over the meals I've been cooking him and the awesome part is that these meals are simple enough that you can tweak anything you want to add or omit from its recipes. It has a section for breakfast recipes with beautiful inspiring and appetizing pictures, lunch, poultry, soups and sides. It's really awesome!! I recommend :)

Another Great Cookbook by American Test Kitchen
I have made a few recipes from this cookbook so far, and everything turned out great. The grilled chicken fajitas have to be the best fajita recipe that I made by far. Tonight I plan on making the chicken mole with cilantro-lime rice and beans. There are so many amazing looking dishes that I plan on making in the coming week. I'm looking forward to it. You can't go wrong with this cookbook. Yum!

The best GF Bread recipe
Not a lot new for a cook like me in this book. BUT the bread recipe is worth the cost of the whole book! Delicious, and it actually comes out so that you can SLICE IT and make a sandwich. Heaven for those of us that can't do gluten!
