Works exactly as intended. The color side is clearly just decorative, so some of the reviews that I came across were silly. You will need to wash it to keep it clean and allow the etched bumps to work. it works not as effectively when covered in nail dust! So rinse under water, pat dry on towel and done. It really does work very well at both flatting ridges and creating a shine. I'm not sure how this product didn't work for some people? Only a small learning curve to get the right angles and such. Don't be surprised if you create a scratch mark more than a few times. You can just buff/shine it to perfection. I honestly believe the scratching only happens because of imperfections in the nail which mine were not perfectly smooth to begin with, slight ridges. I used it on my daughter's nails per her request and it worked perfectly. done in a minute or two. Love them. I hope they last. (:

A two pack for six dollars is an awesome deal for these. I’ve tried several other glass files. These are the best for me. They file the ends smooth, absolutely no fraying or snags. It smooths my ridges pretty well and adds shine that I have only got with clear mail polish. In the photo, my middle finger is polished with this file only. My ring finger is not for comparison. Anyone saying it does not shine, must be using this incorrect. The grit side files AND polished. The smooth rounded side does nothing. Sand the top of nails with the grit side, but not too deep or it will thin the nails.

The media could not be loaded. Seriously, LOVE this product. I only do natural nails, so buffing blocks are my friend, until I tried this today. I literally got it on my porch just moments ago and was excited to try my first glass buffer. I am amazed at first I thought,” Does this have wax or something, no way it’s making my nails this glossy? But nope, it literally is filling them into a sheen! I can’t rave enough!!!

I’m very impressed with how well these removed the ridges from my nails as well as the glass like shine they create. Gave one to my sister who was equally impressed and loved it as well. Does a good job filing nails, but would start slowly as to not file too much of the edge away if you prefer them to stay longer since the file works too well. Great file! I won’t ever go back to the metal or paper files!

You will be amazed at the ease of use, quickness of results and high gloss on your nails. Simpler and better than anything I have ever used, including polish.

I like this because they are longer than some of the nail shiners out there, and because the colored side is curved, it is really easy to see which is the functional side! They are comfortable to hold, even for me, with arthritis and other functional problems with various fingers.Key things to remember when using these nano glass nail shiners is to use them on lotion-free nails, use only enough pressure to flatten any ridges and get to the shine, and use so much pressure use for too long when buffing your nails so as not to unduly wear down your nails. You can use them on the edge of the tips of your nails, too, which makes them smoother than does filing.

I'm surprised at how rough the rough side of these is. It seems like a bit too big of a jump from the course side to the smooth side. I got it for the smooth side to polish splits in my nails without filing away too much of my nail. It does that well but if I was intending to use this to buff my nails the rough side would be too much. So, it works for my intentions, but may be too much for people wanting to use it as a buffer.
