Life in the Lap pool lane so much easier.
I picked this up a couple weeks ago. My typical pool work out is 30 minutes or longer - 1500 yards plus. I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before writing this. Will cover 3 areas. Interface, fit and controls, and use. 1. Interface. I am a network engineer by trade so I am used to very confusing difficult to use electronics. THIS IS SIMPLE. I got it. Plugged it into my Windows computer and left it there for a while to make sure that it charged. The device shows up as a USB drive. Drag MP3 files to it and it is ready to go. I have not tried anything fancy like play lists. The random play suffices for me. I have loaded 2 gig worth of music. Data transfer speeds are USB 2.0 so not as fast as I would like but it works. Most of the music I have is encoded at 128 bits but some are higher. There does not seem to be any issues between the different levels of encoding. I charge it up once a week and it runs great. 2. Fit and controls. There are three buttons. On/Off/mode, forward/volume up, reverse/volume down. Very straight forward. The device fits on the back of the goggle strap very comfortable and is not noticeable in terms of weight. .63 grams. The ear buds are really were there is work to be done. And the Tree design is the best at keeping a water tight seal, however this can be uncomfortable. I STRONGLY suggest that before attempting to swim with this you test which ear piece fits best. My ear canals are not exactly the same size and some work was needed to get the best fit. Also by getting the ear pieces wet first they insert more easily and seal better in the canal. WARNING the ear pieces can come off in your ear. DO NOT PANIC. It may be useful to have tweezers on hand to aid in removal. This has NOT happened to me. The ear buds are tight and seal well. I strongly suggest that after a pool swim you wipe them down with fresh water and the ear pieces with a sanitizer of some kind. Music reproduction is great for what it is. This is NOT an audiophile head set like Shure or B&O or even Bose. You are swimming in water which significantly impacts the acoustics. That said the bass response was surprisingly deep and the highs very crisp. 3. Use. Like I said. Test fit before you try to use in a workout. It is needful to very carefully tuck the wires under the goggle strap. I use the method in the manual kind of a S with the plugin to the player pointed downward towards my neck. I swim front crawl. Flip turns are possible BUT I hope you are better at them than I. I suspect a well executed flip turn will have better results than my clumsy attempts. In addition if you are not careful in your strokes your exhaust air and how your shoulders move can impact how well the ear buds stay sealed over the course of the workout. Conclusion. For the money hands down BEST MONEY I have spent on tech in a long long time! Very impressive. Simple, elegant and easy to use. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!

Plays a fraction of what you load
I wanted to like this product, I truly did. Setup was simple, the earbuds work great and have decent sound quality, but my device only recognizes a tiny fraction of the music loaded (all MP3 format, by the way). I've reset the Syryn, several times, loaded and unloaded music, and the largest number of songs I could coax out of it was possibly 12 songs out of a few hundred and that's actually being fairly generous. Typically, it's been playing closer to 6. I've gone through the online troubleshooting guides, and absolutely nothing has helped. I swim laps for extended periods of time and I need more than 6 songs to play. I had high hopes for this but it looks like I'm going to be forced to find something else.

Great sound and great swim! Update November!!
I love swimming laps, but nice to have music. It has super sound quality. Love the array of ear pieces. Clips to my suit..I don’t wear goggles at this pool .. does not get tangled or pulled out of the ear and I swim all the strokes. The You Tube video on downloading and converting iTunes to MP3 songs was great! It’s a little time consuming but well worth the time. Yesterday this 60 year old had a great swim...because I had good music to enjoy! Two months in.. the Syrn is great...earphones not so much. Line broke at earbud.. so mono sound. I am careful with putting in the case... so was surprised when I didn’t hear any sound. Putting it down to bad luck. Will see if there isn’t another brand. October...well they stopped working..was very sad! Only hear power on or off. Did all the trouble shooting but nothing. Contacted customer service and they set up replacement. I received it in a week and thus far it is great. It is a refurbish but as long as the sound is this good..I am ok with it! I have to say they have great customer service!

This system REALLY works. I recommend.
This review will be honest and heartfelt. The Syryn system has changed my swimming life. Bottom Line: It works as advertised. A few caveats: It's a lazy engineering flaw that when the player is on "shuffle" it doesn't remember what you've recently heard. So many times I'll be offered the same cut more than once in the same swimming session (45 mins.). It's not a CRISIS to have to reach around and forward to the next song, but it's annoying. The physical design of the clip that clasps on to your goggle strap is poorly conceived. It's a bit difficult to squeeze the clip (not enough finger space). Also it's not immediately obvious which side is the squeezable side of the clip because both top and bottom are equa-distant from the player. So you don't know if it's upside down or not. Again annoying. A few KUDOS: The sound is WAY better than I'd expected. Be sure NOT to judge the audio quality if you aren't submerged in the water! These headphones are designed to work with the pressure/seal of the outside water to make the bass come alive. On dry land they sound tinny and cheap. In the water they sound expansive and grand. It's kinda like a magic trick! The customer service from this company is exemplary. I was having trouble finding the correct "ear-nipple" to fit onto the end of the my phones. So after a few weeks of trial and error I went to the Underwater Audio website to see if there was any helpful info there (and there was). But strikingly I saw that I was not sent the complete suite of "ear-nipples" in my shipment. There were actually 4 or 5 different shapes and sizes missing from my box. (see my attached pic). I shot them off an email, and within a week I received a full and complete set of all the nipples they make free of charge and super-fast! Wow! I ended up buying a 2nd Syryn for my 20-something daughter who like her Dad is a swimming (and MUSIC) fan. Thanks to Underwater Audio we're doing harder workouts over longer periods with LOTS MORE enjoyment. Buy this system with confidence.

Unironically over the moon with this mp3 player. I like that it's small and easy to use. Only one negative is when you connect to the PC it will not save the current playback stamp. Meaning if you listening to something long, like a podcast it will reset and not save where you were. Otherwise awesome product.

After much research, I chose the Syryn mp3 player, and so far I have been very satisfied with the product. The headphones fit perfectly in my ears (many earbud tips included), and the sound while swimming is very good concerning that you are listening to music underwater. I have been using them in salt water for swimming, and their condition is still the same as the time I received them.
