Even the kids love it!!!
I bought this car seat as a gift for my brother in the US (I'd seen it on Indiegogo and thought it was a really clever idea). They got it last week when I was visiting and this is what they told me - "this is just about the smartest thing you could have got us." They have two kids aged 8 and 6 and they car share a lot to take their kids to school. That's why I thought it would be good for them. And also because when I'm staying with them, I can't fit in the back of the car with their two kids and their old car seats! Now I've seen it and tried it out I really think it's great. And so do they. It's just so small but it seems to work well. It's about the size of large paperback book that folds out to create a flat seat about a quarter of an inch thick. It has guides on the sides that hold the seat belt in the right position over the hips and a strap that goes up the back of the child to hold it in place over the shoulder. Other reviewers have said it's not that comfortable. However that's not our experience at all. I was worried my niece would find it hard to sit on as although there's some padding on it, it's not especially soft. But she doesn't have a problem with it. It seems to sink into the seat a little so is quite comfortable for her. It's different to a normal car seat and so it does take some getting used to (how to clip the belt in, how to set it up). But once you get it, it's fine. of course the kids seem to get it faster than the adults! I was pleasantly surprised by how heavy it is. It's more than just a little piece of plastic and it does seem to be high quality. But it's the size that makes it so different. The mifold website says you can fit three in a row in the back of a normal car and I can see that happening. It really is that small. As an adult I can fit in the back with the two kids really easily too. And my brother will store it in the pocket of the driver seat when not using it - no big clumsy polystyrene seats cluttering up the car (he's a bit of a neat freak). It's not perfect however. The red belt guides need to be released with a little lever to pull them out but are pushed back in too easily. This should be changed as the position of the belt can move as a result (although not so it affects the child). And the instruction manual has its own little slot (which is great to have always to hand) but it's not so easy to get it in or out. But these are minor issues really. It's called portable and it really is. It will fit into a handbag or kids back pack really easily and you can take it anywhere. It's just a great concept and a a great product. The best review comes from my 6 year old niece who says she loves it. She says she feels like a big girl now! She will take it with her to school in her bag so she's always got a car seat when she's taken home by someone else. And she'll use it too, which I guess is the whole point. When will this be available on UK Amazon???

PERFECT for travel but not comfortable enough for regular seat
I wanted to give this 4.5 stars because it's PERFECT for travel and on-the-go but daughter said it wasn't comfortable for regular use. So I think it's a 5-star for it's likely intended purpose (travel, easy availability of a seat for carpools, etc.) but we wouldn't use it for everyday. We bought this to take along on vacation to use in Ubers/taxis. It was PERFECT for that - tiny/light enough to stash away in a backpack and really fast to whip out and install while luggage was being loaded into trunk. Practice with it first - you need to adjust the shoulder strap to the correct height for your child and that could be stressful if a driver is waiting for you! (It's easy but things are always stressful if someone is waiting and you're not sure what you're doing! After it's fitted you can just leave it at that height, no further adjustments needed.) The clips that hold the belt down on the sides have three widths they can slide out to. For our almost-five-year-old we found that just moving it to the first notch was good. The third was too far out (and dug into us as it was spread pretty far in the middle seat!) and leaving it all the way in was too tight. It's got a lot of room for growth and we'll get a ton out of this over the years for use as a quick seat and for travel. (We will certainly buy a second when our littler one is big enough for this! I'm glad they offer other colors now - that will make it easy to know which shoulder strap is the right height for which child.) We never had any problems with the latches staying in the position we moved them to - I read that in several reviews that they would just slide right back in but that hasn't happened to us at all. We did take this on a few trips in our truck before we left for our trip to be sure that we liked it and were quick with it. Daughter was THRILLED to try it out but after a few errands said that it was not comfortable. Plus they sit low on the seat and that's sort of a bummer for them since they can't really see out the windows. So this isn't an everyday seat but it's great for its intended use. Pros: ~ Super small and light - I cannot stress enough how little space it took up in our carry-on backpack!!! ~ Very quick and easy to use - I had no problems getting it set up in the back seat while husband and driver loaded luggage into the trunk. ~ Cost is MORE THAN REASONABLE for what you're getting here. We saw a lot of booster seats being schlepped on the planes and cruise ship and man... that would be a bummer! This was a total bargain!!! ~ I believe it now comes in multiple colors, which would be handy if you have more than one using this - that way the shoulder strap is already adjusted to the correct height for each kid and it's easy to know which seat belongs to which kid. ~ An older child wouldn't have any problem setting this up and getting themselves strapped in - good for if parents are working with a little one or when older kids are carpooling - they won't really need help from the driving parent. Cons: ~ Not super comfortable for longer trips or everyday use. ~ When the belt positioners were all the way out they dug into our legs (Mifold was in the middle, adults on each side) in a smaller backseat. This could be an issue in any small backseat and any booster!)

Okay for Short Rides While Traveling
I bought two of these — one for my 3-year-old and one for my 5-year-old — for our trip to the beach so we could use them in Ubers between the airport and hotel. Overall, they did the job for what we needed, which was a quick and portable option while traveling. That said, I was basically holding them the whole time. If you’re someone who is really focused on kids’ car safety (like I am), it didn’t feel super secure. Both of my kids were able to lean pretty far side to side and there isn’t much from the seat belt setup that keeps them from moving around. For short rides while traveling, it worked and I’m glad we had it. But I personally wouldn’t rely on it the same way I would a regular car seat. It served its purpose for travel, just something to keep in mind depending on your expectations.

Amazing innovation
We've had this for about 18 months now, and I am coming to buy a second for my second child, and figured I should write a review. We use it as the restraint in our second car, and for travel / play-dates / etc. Our child is now 7, and started using it when he was about to be 6. I mention that because I don't think it's appropriate for most younger children who can't be trusted not to wiggle around or sit inappropriately or slump over, etc. It fits brilliantly in a purse or backpack. It can be installed in moments, including by our child (though an adult always checks to make sure). It keeps the seat belt positioned in the proper place. It's true, of course, that it doesn't lift children up, and thus it can be hard for children to see out a window. And so if you are looking for something to live in your every day car for your child to look out the window, maybe this isn't the best fit (our kid has a Graco Affix in the car that takes him to/from school every day). But if you need something to replace the alternative of nothing at all, because nothing is convenient? Than it's invaluable. In my state, it is legal for my child to ride without any kind of booster or belt adjuster based on his age, even though he is only 4'1" and it's not yet safe for him. Therefore, having a convenient, child friendly, small option that he can use in friends' cars without hassle and stigma, and that we can bring on trips, is amazing. It is TINY, it doesn't need to be blown up, it can be installed in moments, and it appropriately adjusts the belts. What could be better?

Interesting Concept, But Impractical in Real-World Use
We brought this on vacation for short taxi and Uber rides, planning to leave the backless booster we had in our rental. While the idea is clever, it turned out to be more hassle than help and feels like it needs more product development. Despite promo photos showing a tidy, compact design, the long strap and bulky buckle don’t store neatly. It takes up space and tangles with everything in your bag when you pull it out. Installation looks easy in the demo video shot in a brightly lit studio. But in a dark taxi, a rainy curbside pickup, or with an impatient Uber driver, it’s a different story. The seat slides around, the car’s seatbelt gets caught in the narrow slots, and lining everything up with an actual child in the seat is a struggle. Getting it off was worse. The seatbelt often jammed in the clip, and you have to remove almost the entire unit before your child can get out. I once spent five stressful minutes trying to free it it while my child panicked - terrifying to think about having to do this in an emergency. Finally for our 5-year-old, the belt also sat too low - across the top of the thighs rather than the waist. In the end, we gave up and just lugged the regular booster around. The Mifold was so impractical it defeated the purpose of bringing it. It might work for carpooling with a patient friend or in a calm, well-lit setting. But in those situations, you’re better off just using a regular backless booster anyway.

Would recommend
A great booster seat to leave in the trunk and use as needed. Folds easily, fits in kids backpacks for easy transport through airports and during the school day if they need to go home with a friend. Would not recommend as a primary everyday booster seat but absolutely used as a cheap back up.

Game changing booster seat at an unbeatable price
The mifold booster seat is a complete game changer in the booster industry! Now that I've had time to try it out with my preschooler and really experience it, I can tell you it's total love for us. First of all, it's tiny; like super tiny. Throw it in a pocket of a backpack tiny. Which is amazing for traveling or sending along with your elementary kid for after school. Plus, it's super incognito once it's actually in the seat with your kiddo... just look at all the real estate he's got in that seat! My son, at 4 years old, 41 pounds, 44 inches and about size 5 or 6 in clothes is at the bottom end of the range for the mifold, so it will last him a long time (up to 100 pounds!). The intuitive and incremental adjustments make it easy to customize along the way for the perfect fit ensuring a safe ride. Seriously, ladies and gentlemen, this thing is awesome. Good Product! Perfection pending..
I read some of the reviews and thought this deserved one. I bought these for my two boys because I needed something that was not too bulky for my European car and that can easily be stowed away if I had adult passengers. Also, the obvious, easy to travel with and move from car to car. Main issues that I read were: - Seat-belt positioner on each side (red ear thingies), locking and folding mechanism: I agree that it is somewhat of an annoyance that you often need to pull the latch on the bottom to readjust their width. They would have been perfect if you also needed to use the latch to retract them, but it is something I learned to accept. Extra 5 seconds is not a big deal in my opinion. - Seat-belt positioner on each side (red ear thingies), inner hook: This is to prevent the belt from sliding out. I admit that it takes some practice to get used to handling these (my wife still cant), but I like that it is this way because the kids also cant play around with it and unbuckle themselves at will. I don't mind this feature at all. You can get used to it. (I just wonder sometimes if rescue people would find it difficult to unlatch in the case of an accident (God forbid), but yet again, they'll probably cut the belts.) - Behind the back belt hook: Can be tricky and a little uncomfortable if they were not at the required level. But once set, they stay and are not a problem. - Sliding off the seat: I only found this issue when trying it with kids that are under the required height. People might find this an issue because with regular boosters, this wont happen even with a shorter/smaller/younger kid. All-in-all, I love this product and looking forward to traveling with it.
