Excellent Value Priced Calligraphy Fountain Pen
RhvmmI am really impressed with this pen. Frankly it's super inexpensive but not cheap at all. It writes smoothly and it's durable. I own both the 1.0 and 1.5 mm sizes and use them daily.

Best, easiest, calligraphy-nib fountain pen I've used. I wish the body were a bit nicer.
I've used fountain pens on and off for decades. I really like having some class. I had, however, largely given up on fountain pens because 99% of them have ball-nibs now, and they don't add any elegance to my handwriting that a high-quality ball refill doesn't, and they are more laborious to clean and use. On a whim I decided to try this sailor with an italic nib. It's really fantastic. It is, by a wide margin, the easiest to use, least blotting, smoothest flowing fountain pen I've used (though I've never had the chance to use super-expensive pens). Writing normally, it adds a bit of character and class without having to use specialty "calligraphy" techniques. I didn't have to fight, squeeze, blot, shake, or tap the pen to keep ink flowing, and the cartridges lasted about 3 times longer than I had expected them to. When I finally used all the ink, I left the pen sit for several weeks, and it DID dry out and clog on the ink dregs - but I discovered that the feed and nib ARE removable, and easily washed out. After washing, it did take a bit of blotting and tapping to get the new ink cartridge running, but once it was it was no issue and again goes days at a time without use, and immediately writes without feed issue - no blotting or tapping required. Also, thanks to the ease of use and lack of need to tap or blot to keep ink flowing, I don't stain my fingers. My only complaint is that the pen body is cheap plastic. I don't know if the feed and nib are compatible with other Sailor pens, but I could not find other sailor pens which offer this nib. If I could, I would love to put this feed and nib into a metal pen body. If you want a simple-to-use fountain pen that's affordable and ACTUALLY WORKS LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO, this is a great choice.

A great little pen!
I wanted something to go between my 1.5 mm and 2.4 mm parallel pens, specifically to fit a 5 mm line width (standard notepad grid layout). I have spent many times more on calligraphy fountain pens, and have been extremely frustrated with all of them. the “best” one I bought with 1.5 mm and 2.3 mm nibs, I could never get the 2.3 mm to go more than a character or two without running dry, and the 1.5 mm needs constant, heavy pressure to allow ink to flow. This 2.0 mm Sailor pen is fantastic. Not only does it write smoothly and continuously with a light touch, but the edge is razor-sharp, which is something I like. In the example “test drive” shown, I am using more of a round hand, but it really shines for very sharp-edged Gothic styles as well. Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased!

Great Writer
This pen is a great writer. I got the 1.0 nib. The calligraphy nib adds a nice flair to writing by providing different line widths (thicker vertical strokes, thinner horizontal strokes). All types of fountain pen inks work well in this pen. Chromashading inks are especially fun to use since the shading really shows up (with the right paper). The pen is not fancy but is comfortable to hold/write with and seems to be sturdy. The translucent barrel lets the ink show through so it’s easy to gauge how much ink is left in the cartridge. The cap seems to seal well and is able to keep ink from evaporating too quickly. The calligraphy nib is really fun to write with but is less forgiving than the typical fountain pen nib (fine, medium, broad). The nib needs to make good contact with the paper for smooth, consistent writing. It may take a little practice to find the best angle to hold the pen for good contact.

Crispy lines but somewhat scratchy
Great pen for line variation although the nib is a bit scratchy for EDC. Cute nib with a heart for a breather hole. Quality metal cap and clear plastic grip section. Disappointed that the barrel is cheap-looking frosted plastic. It would have looked MUCH better to continue with the same clear plastic as the grip section (subtracting one star for this cheap-looking barrel). Writing-wise, it is definitely more scratchy than a stub nib but you are rewarded with crisp line variations so it’s a reasonable compromise. It’s a very good pen for under $20.

Awesome little FP!
I really love this little pen with a 1.5 stub. Great for addressing envelopes, or practicing calligraphy.

cheap fountain pen
The only reason I ordered this pen was that it has a stub nib and was cheap. Having said that, this is a small pen that looks and feels cheap. Ink will dry out quickly in it, but while it writes, it writes actually pretty well. Just don't expect a $50 performance from his bargain pen.
