Something something... cats and dogs living together... something something... mass hysteria.
So first of all, if you are tempted by this and you have the money, go buy it. Just do it. Its worth the experience. It's cool and it's a great collection piece. This is what you expect, a big, intricate, well-designed love letter that mashes up Ghostbusters and LEGO. It's a great center piece to a collection of either. As you expect, it's got lots of neat touches and details and does the best it can with the (admittedly very large) budget for customer sets. There are lots of little things that you're not going to see in any of these pictures, like the stocked cabinets, the specimen jars, a collection of tools to go in the toolbox, etc. It might not have a basement containment unit (wouldn't that be an odd design problem) but it looks fantastic for what it is. I don't need to describe the look, you either want it or think its a huge waste of money. You already know which you are.As for nuts and bolts, It took me 15-ish hours across a week to build this set. Yes, it really is that big. ~4600 pieces is a ton. The set is comprised of a first level plus sections of other floors that snap together. Its feels surprising good to see it slowly get built up and start to come together from what looks like a bombing zone into the firehouse. It's also fairly heavy, the package that was delved noted that the box was 20 lbs, which feels about right. The roof, second, and third floors are divided into 6 separate sections that are loosely connected and can easily be taken apart, even after it is built. (see pictures). This makes moving it a bit easier and also allows you to get a closer look at the details. The LEGO Ecto-1 does fit inside the firehouse, but unfortunately it does require moving some incidental decoration and Janine's desk (the front desk) out of its place since there isn't quiet enough room. You can, however, just have the Ecto-1 stick partial out (which looks fine) and not have to really move anything. The Ecto-1 also has one piece that is too tall for the door and needs to be removed for clearance, but almost rolls in smoothly. I have the feeling that they did their best, but just couldn't quiet get the size they need.I'm impressed by the work they did with this set and I honestly don't think they could do much better without increasing the price quiet a bit. This is something expensive enough that it's not a spur of the moment buy but if it nags at you and you know you gotta have it, it really is supernaturally good.

Fabulous Experience in a Unique Fixer-Upper!
Bought this for my wife and me. Simply amazing. Pictures can't do this kit justice. There is far more going on than photos can capture. The attention to detail is hard to describe. From there actually being "food" inside the refrigerator (really) and tools inside the toolbox, to kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures, a pinball machine, light bulbs in the light fixtures, a pool table, and on and on, the sheer intricacy of things is a wonder to behold. The actual engineering of the building is incredible. We often had no idea what we were building until modules came together. We took the better part of a week to build this and really enjoyed the process. We found it both fun and challenging. Yes, you get the pole and it works! You also get the unlicensed nuclear accelerators (they don't seem to work, though), the storage facility and the alarm (it doesn't scream "we got one" though). I could go on and on. We really struggled spending the money on this but now that we've experienced it we are all right with it. If you love the movie I would just throw caution to the wind and go for it. After all, as they say, you can't take the money with you, right?

My ten year old loves this set!
My son recently transitioned into a more mature Lego “level.” I used to hate paying $100 or more for a quality set only to see him add it to his “parts bin” within days or a 1-2 weeks of ownership. As such I do not buy him $100+ value Lego sets. A few months ago he used his own money to buy the Lego Fishing Store and he finally began to appreciate keeping a Lego set intact because of the hard work and frankly beautiful display value of some sets. This one is exactly that and more. He purchased this with his own money and just finished building it after being delayed a week or two due to a couple of missing pieces. We bought them on Bricklink instead of bugging Lego and he couldn’t be happier. I wish it had more mini figures because he has raided my Ghostbusters car set to meet his playing needs. The way the set opens up for play and display is well done too. Expensive but worth it if your child (or you) no longer feed your parts bin regularly and wish to build some excellent playable display sets.

The Set to End all Sets
Words cannot fully describe the fun that I had building this set. Over the course of 3 nights and 1 lengthy Sunday, I put together this LEGO masterpiece. The price seems a bit high at first, but when you do the average .10/piece lego price, it comes out much more valuable than standard sets. This set even puts the SHIELD Hellicarrier to shame, and that set was a blast to build. There is a lot of variety to the set, with multiple mini builds helping break up the occasional repetitive nature of the exterior walls. My only true complaint is the lack of a locker for Winston. With all of the recent complaints about leaving Ernie Hudson out of most of the marketing material, it feels like a missed opportunity for inclusion. It's not enough to bring the set down, but it does feel like a slight step back.I cannot recommend this set enough. It is a black from start to finish. I cannot wait to purchase a few of the Creator Expert sets, and start to build my own little town. This Ghostbusters set will fit along with them just fine!

Love this build
Love this build! The last three Lego sets I have purchased/finished were big ones: Big Ben, London Tower Bridge, and this. This is hands down the best of the three. I like bigger sets, I want to build something that will take me a few days. The Big Ben and London Tower sets were very boring, a lot of repetition, a lot of tiny parts making the total piece count seem larger than it really was. This set has a lot of variety, after you get the base/ground floor done, each floor is it's own room And it is a fun time watching the piece come together. My only, minor, quibble is the instruction manual. for some reason they chose to use black pages for the instructions, and it was kind of a strain on the eyes. But that is, again, just a tiny beef. Highly recommend this one.
