Q: Anyone know the difference between 1814 and 1900?

really can't see a lot of difference.....1814 = 12000 BTU and stainless base, 1900 12500 BTU, both are single burner, both are portable

Q: Is there any difference between the grease catcher being in the back or being in the front?

For me, it’s a lot easier to push the grease back instead of front. The back grease catcher just hooks on, and I think the front one is a little compartment that you have to pull out to clean.

Q: can the hood be removed?

My son purchased but he said the hood can be removed.

Q: Is the grill surface treated or bare metal?

It cones treated with a food grade oil that you burn off before your first use. After using your griddle and cleaning you should lightly coat the surfaces with a cooking oil to stop any rust. I have had absolutely zero issues and love my griddle!
