Q: is this easy to do i used to knit (not the best) so wondered if this is less stressful

I found it difficult I never finished it. I prefer cross stitch.

I have had the same issue. I believe it is the wrong kind of material, including needle. With Punch Craft Embroidery I had no problem; so easy to use too. I did not pursue the issue. If I would say if you have the time to do so, just return the product. Next time stick with PUNCH CRAFT EMBROIDERY products.

Q: Would this be alright for someone with arthritic hands? My elderly mum is desperate for hobby she can do.

If she is able to hold a crochet hook, or knitting needle she should be able to push a punch needle into a punch needle embroidery, but it does take great care and patience getting the needle in the place you want it to go. It is not as easy as I thought it was going to be.
