Honeywell FBA C7189R1004 Wireless Indoor Sensor, Premier White

I bought this to better monitor temperature in different parts of the house so the heating doesn't overdo it in one room and underheat another. A small wireless sensor that blends with the decor sounded perfect for keeping things comfortable without adding clutter. Setup was straightforward. It includes mounting hardware and two AAA batteries, and because it is factory calibrated I did not have to fiddle with any adjustments. I placed the sensor on a shelf in the living room, where it is out of direct heat but still away from drafts. In daily use, it has worked smoothly. Readings come through reliably, and the white finish helps it disappear into most walls or furniture. The absence of any calibration steps after install is a noticeable plus when you just want things to work. One small note is that the compact size means placement matters for the most accurate readings, so a quick bit of experimentation helps. Other than that, it performs exactly as hoped and has already made balancing comfort around the house easier. Overall, it earns a five star impression for reliable, unobtrusive performance.

We had many issues where one room is hotter/colder than another so I bought one for each bedroom. Functionally is what I expected. It connects to the thermostat and control the temperature in the back of rooms / far from the thermostat. Easy to connect!

Was as advertised and arrived on time. I purchased 2 of these wireless sensors to help cool my upstairs better since the temp up there is always 6-7 degrees warmer than the IAQ Prestige thermostat located on the 1st level. Linking the 2 wireless sensors to the thermostat was very easy. Once linked to the thermostat, each of the sensors were placed in different upstairs bedrooms. The average of the temperature of each sensor and the temperature at thermostat are combined to cool or heat the areas where the sensors are located. It has lowered the upstairs temperature by 5 degrees keeping my downstairs thermostat on 74. User just needs to understand that due to the thermostat averaging the upstairs temp with the downstairs temp, the displayed indoor temperature is the average of the 2 sensors upstairs and the thermostat downstairs temperature. Using sepatarate thermometers where the each of the sensors are and placing one downstairs , the temperature in both rooms upstairs were 74 and downstairs was 70, thermostat displays indoor temp as 74. I am very satisfied with the performance of the sensors to lower my upstairs temperature from 79 to 74 degrees. A much more affordable solution than having air returns and extra venting installed upstairs or using window air conditioners.

Easy to replace and set up worked perfectly.

These are awful with the Honeywell Prestige and other earlier thermostats. They cannot be seen or therefore adjusted on the app. It is not easy to tell the system to change room priorities. Multiple menu levels to get there and requires installer code which is easy to find but a pain. I cannot see the sensors temps on other floors so how would I know when to make a labor intensive switch. Somewhat useful if you are on one floor of the house during the day and another at night using the schedule sub-menu. If I upgrade the thermostat and but new sensors I can get that functionality. Not worth it for $500.

It's pretty simple in that it simply provides additional temperature readings to the thermostat. The thermostat will then adjust to try to satisfy that average reading. If it's 78 upstairs and 74 downstairs the thermostat will display 76 and try to cool/heat based on that number. You can make the remote sensor the the only sensor if you choose, but what you can't do is schedule the sensor to be included to excluded based on time of day. It would be really handy to be able to set my AC to work during the day off of my main thermostat t and at night off my remote sensor. It would be awesome if Honeywell would include that option in their thermostat firmware.

Although the dimensions are mentioned, it maybe isn't really obvious just how small this device really is. See the attached photo - and note that my hands are relatively small. Setup was easy, the only possible glitch in the documentation is that it doesn't make it clear that the thermostat needs to be put into the "add new wireless device" mode. Once that is done, press the button and it links with no issues. I am adding this because the thermostat is located in the hallway, which is rather unfortunate, because we have chosen not to live there, but rather in the family room which ends up always hotter than the thermostat setting, or colder than the thermostat setting, depending upon the season. Hopefully, this will fix that when placed in the family room. Leaving it averaging the readings for the moment. We will see how that goes.

Paired to Honeywell thermostat and placed up stairs in a better central area and made a huge difference in balancing temperature in two story

I have a modulating furnace and honeywell thermostat system. We have a split level house where the top level gets less heat or less cold all the time. We had tried an Ecobee thermostat with remote sensors and it just didn't work properly. We reverted back and with research I found this remote does the same things and connects with wifi. Installation was easier and now the whole house is on an even temperature between read of the thermostat and the sensor. Issue resolved.

These are good to setup in all your common rooms. I ended up putting 1 in my bedroom and 1 in the kids room. Now the temperature in the house feels more consistent.
