Yellow split peas aren't easy to find in my area. I usually have to travel to a health food store or natural market in the nearest city, which is over a half hour away. My local grocery stores don't carry yellow split peas. This amount of peas is a good value, cost per ounce, and they shipped quickly. The quality is excellent. There were no bad peas, debris, or stones, and the color was uniform with no brown or bad-looking peas. They cooked up nicely, takes about 20 minutes of simmering to become al dente. They tasted fresh, not musty or old. As with all dried beans or rice, I took care to rinse the peas well before cooking. Shipping was fast. The peas came in a large plastic bag which isn't resealable. The bag was durable and arrived intact. It wasn't torn open, no loose peas in the box. I poured the peas into smaller containers - quart size mason jars - for easier storage and use. These split peas are great for soups and veggie salads. You can substitute them for any recipes calling for green split peas or even lentils. Try using them in place of red lentils when making curry or dal.

Loved these. I found guidance how to cook them as snacks, and they are quite delicious. I'll enjoy experimenting with other ways to present them as roasted snacks and as meal vegetables, as they are very tasty and definitely different from green split peas.

I have ordered from the company before with no issues. Unfortunately, this time there was. I used the whole peas to make soup. I placed them in water overnight then made soup the next day. After cooking the peas on low for 6 hours they were still too firm to eat. I normally only cook them on low for 3 hours and they are perfect. A waste of time and money. Very disappointed!
