Close to Seven

I discovered Sandra back in November 2011 and have since discovered all her music, and I must say Close to Seven has to be one of her best albums, all the songs have so much character and the rhythms are amazing! I would recommend this album to anyone interested in listening to something different. Thank you Sandra!

I feel obliged to write the review. Recently listened to nearly 1000 old CDs."Close To Seven" is definitely in my top 10.Previously I heard none of the tracks, I guess that none of them were "hits" and didn't qualify for a radio broadcast- 2 of the tracks feel like a filler.+ 8 of the tracks are great: vocals, tunes, melody, background vocals, selection of tones/instruments, just perfectly composed. 5 of these 8 are wonderful and I would say on par with Enigma Return to Innocence.For 26 years I was oblivious to this gem and I am glad that I am no more :-)

Despite the fact that, when released, it was raved and highly praised by the critics, it didn't meet the public recognition that it deserved. However, it turned out to be the most highly-acclaimed and best-selling Sandra release ever, since it was appreciated during the years following its release.. Close to seven consists of ten magnificent musical gems, which create an wonderful, relaxing, yet powerful and sensual atmosphere. Without a doubt, Close to Seven is the best Sandra album, in both artistic and technical terms (get the original 1992 CD released by Virgin, if at all possible. Technically this should be superior to all later reissued/remastered editions.) Not much else to add here - just listen to it. 5 star.

とでも言うべきか。この頃流行っていたグランドビート・オン・サンドラと言う感じ。当時、結構売れていたらしい。ハウシーでブラックなリズムを取り入れつつ、とは言ってもヨーロッパ風ゴスの硬質な作風は相変わらずでエニグマの単語は出したくはないけれど、当時人気だったから敢えて当時の表現で言うと「ウィスパリングボイス」つまり、サンドラの語りが出始めたＣＤで、これがまたいい感じ。甘くてしゃっくり上げる昔ながらの溌剌とした歌声ではなく、時に不気味な「語り」が大人の雰囲気。そして対照的に歌声はこの頃がＭａｘ。刺激的なところはＭａｄonnaに影響されたかな？しょうがない。この頃のＭａｄｏｎｎａの影響力は凄かったから。Steady Meだけかな？昔っぽいSandraが見えるの。この後、サンドラは更に進化します。本人も当然自覚の上で・・・。
