The Kingdom of the Occult

Nothing against the book itself, but i was surprised to see that the name displayed on 50% of the book cover is not actually of the author; this book is a small collection of quotes from Walter Martin, with the vast majority of the content belonging to different authors. This to me seems like a shameless attempt to profit from Walter Martin's name, and upon further research i was very disappointed to see the bickering and drama that started between Walter's children after his death, as well as the monetization of his name and messages ($5 for a 20 minute mp3? really?).As far as the book, it's worth a read. It's just not written by who you would think.

Dr. Walter Martin is known worldwide for his exhaustive and extensive studies on cults. This book is one on the OCcult, which is similar in the sense that it is still steeped in false, demonic religions and religious behaviors, all from the enemy of your soul, Satan. Here he does an excellent job of researching the occult and all its practices--things that you didn't even realize are part of the occult world, such as the "ok" hand sign, which is really part occult and part Masonic (which in itself is occultic anyway). He covers Ancient Paganism, the Kabbalah, the New Age--which is the latest, biggest thing going right now-the Psychic world, including Astrology (an old, anti-God practice), Satanic worship, Witchcraft, Demon Possession and several other topics.This is the 2008 edition by Jill Martin Rische, the daughter of Dr. Walter Martin and her husband. It is about 2" thick and contains 733 pages.It is well worth the money ($29.99 U.S.).

Fantastic book! I listen to Jan Markell's radio program every Saturday morning and Jill Martin Rische, who is the daughter of the late Walter Martin. is a co-host of the program. Eric Barger is also a co-host.Listening to various programs about the occult got me interested in learning more about the different " religions " that people find fascinating enough to join. This book explains many occult phenomenon in a very understandable fashion.You'll learn about ancient paganism, astrology, Eastern Mysticism, Satanism, Spiritual Warfare and MUCH more!This is a large book, containing 733 pages, so I haven't read the entire book yet but you don't need to read it straight through, like a novel.You can just go to the chapter that you're interested in.I highly recommend this book to any Christian who is interested in learning more about the occult, it's dangers, why people are drawn to it and finally, how to evangelize those poor souls who are being deceived by Satan.

The book give you far more information than might expect. However, if the occult is something you see in the culture around you this book is a must have.

Excellent read!The must have book in your library. Very informative and written with title and layout that makes it easy to find sections later when you need to go back and find a reference.

Great overview with useful examples and anecdotes to reinforce the teaching. Emphasis on the power of Jesus Christ and his victory over Satanic forces in all such battles.

This book is awesome and very informative

This is another classic from Martin. His books have always been a good primer for those doing studies on other religions/cults and how they deal with Christianity. In this book he deals with some of the more subdued and nefarious religions including UFO's, Satanism and the Gnostic gospels. He also gives some great bibliographies for further reading on a given topic.

Really well researched and informative book. The first part was a bit heavy going but it gets easier as you go through it

I bought THIS Book. I think it is good. I read only a bit in it. Maybe in the future I will make time to read some more in the Book.
