Greener, cheaper cities? What a simple, do-able plan. to make it happen.
Why didn't we all think of this before? It's such a simple, direct path for those interested in making cities greener and cheaper to live in. Why aren't we all over this idea of reducing or eliminating the required number of parking spots for new developments? I'd love to live in a walking city where the pedestrian can coexist and can afford to live. Kudos to the authors.

A must-have "toolkit" approach to reforming parking policy.
Often overlooked, parking requirements are gaining attention as policy-makers increasingly understand the relationship with land utilization and automobile dependency. As current parking policy receives more scrutiny for the negative impacts of outdated requirements, the movement towards reform is evident. In this book, Willson guides policy-makers with a rational twelve-step approach--the first of its kind--to reforming parking requirements. Willson succeeds in providing a comprehensive summary of what parking requirements are and how they work, an overview of how we've gotten to where we are today and case studies of current practices, and a practical "toolkit" approach to reforming parking policy. I highly recommend this book for planners, engineers, community leaders, developers, and students everywhere as a necessary tool to reforming parking requirements to better create livable and sustainable communities.
