Model Railroading N gauge locomotive is the best
I had just entered the world of model railroading and I wanted an authentic steam engine to start collection. The Bachmann Prarie locomotive was a perfect choice due accurate detailing and workmanship. I compare it a fine piece of jewelry.

Not bad
After having this for about a week, and giving it a thorough break in, I decided to give my impressions. First off, it looks pretty good. It isn't super detailed and most of them are molded in to the main body and not additional parts added on. But for the price. I suppose that is to be expected. There is no operational headlight, just some silver paint in the recessed area of the headlight fixture. I suppose an led could be installed with a bit of clever modification, but it may not be worth the trouble. But overall, the appearance is decent. As for operation, it is a bit herky - jerky. Especially at slower speeds. After break in, it became smoother, but still a bit jerky. Pulling cars with a bit of weight helps out here, but there isn't a ton of pulling power here either. But consider the limitations of the real locomotive - it wouldnt be pulling a long string of cars to begin with, and not at high speeds either. Compared to my other locks, this one seems run at speeds and pull cars at appropriate rates. Lastly, make sure your track is as smooth as possible, particularly at joints near turnouts. The pilot and firebox axles have a tendency to derail on rough spots and can lead to bigger problems. Nothing catastrophic yet, but definitely something to be aware of. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with it. While it's a bit of a "toy" rather than a scale model, it does make a nice addition to my collection. It looks and performs satisfactorily, and, for now, is becoming a favorite train to run!

Bachmann is not a good brand at all
Received sealed from Hackmann broken all in several places. Stripped out screws on locomotive and Tender. Would've sent back but I hadn't opened it because it was a gift for my son. Bought a Kato C57 the same day, the quality absolutely puts Bachmann to shame. Maybe they used to be ok but now it's just trash.

Wanted to add a locomotive to my collection. This seems to run well forward with 3 cars added to engine and coal car but struggles with more cars. Reverse is another story at times. Also no working head light :0(0: Decided to hold onto this N-Scale Locomotive LOL
