Neat remastering of Martin Wallace's 2009 classic
This is the 2016 remastering (under liscence) and simplification of Martin Wallace's well regarded "God's Playground" (2009 - Treefrog Games) and its second (2010 Phalanx) edition "Boze Igrzysko". It had its most enthusistic reception in Poland (unsurprisingly) where Phalanx has a big presence.2-5 Players and any number plays well (not solo)90 minutes29x29x7cm box (1.6kg)17 meeples, 192 markers, 119 cards, tray, ziplock bags, boardComplexity 2.3Board Game Geek Score 7.4 and 7.6 (original games)-Usually the new edition scores higher than earleir editions; this didn't - time will fix that?Age 12-14 upward'The MAGNATES: A Game of Power' simulates the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, from its heyday XVI century, until its collapse XVIII century. Players are the magnates and their families, who must develop their family's power and their nation's.Each player has cards for key family members. Some are capable, some not. Player's must exploit even these small souls, in each of domain of the Republic. The fate of the country depends on the sum of all players activities. Compete or cooperate for estates, posts, titles and advantages: The Republic may fall to neighboring powers if you get the balance wrong. Yet opportunities may arise from the international situation. It is fast, thematic, rich in player interactions and dilemas: Who goes to the Sejm and takes positions in the Senate. Do they comply with the Monarch's will to gain estates and power? Do you undertake an expedition to Livonia? Will the troops protecting the country be led by incompetents? Will anyone lead an army to the relief of Vienna? Will the players see the Homeland partition?I like. Alot. RECOMMENDED
