Cute little tarot resource
When I'm interested in any book on a subject, I check to see if the library has it first so I can get a feel for it. But this one spoke to me so I ordered it right away. I'm so glad I did! As some have mentioned, it's smaller than you'd expect (about 5.5" x 6") but thick and heavy with colorful, glossy pages. The introductory sections cover the history of tarot, the symbology, the structure of the deck and other general info. But the majority of the book is dedicated to the cards - each one has an image of the card, key words and phrases, then a detailed description of ways to interpret each card. Very handy reference that's easy to understand. Another favorite feature of the book is the colorful illustrations throughout. The traditional imagery of the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) deck is used a lot, but I like that images from a variety of other decks are also pictured. Makes me curious about exploring other styles of cards once I've learned more and become comfortable with the RWS cards. The remaining section features samples of different spreads you can try. What's handy is that they're broken down into categories like "everyday" spreads, "relationship" spreads, "destiny" spreads, etc. I've purchased three tarot books over the past few months, and I love all of them! This helpful little book is one of my new favorites!

Great resource!
I bought this book looking to get a better understanding of the tarot, this book doesn’t disappoint. It’s got great key words and concepts as well as guidance on certain cards that have more ambiguous meanings and require drawing clarification cards or looking at the rest of the spread to get a better idea of the meaning. Very insightful. Some reviews mentioned no reversal meanings for the cards as a negative but the author gives a broad spectrum of interpretation including the darker and lighter aspects of the cards. This has invited me to read them in a new way and I think the darker aspects could easily be used as a reversal. A+! The author also includes several different spreads to choose from. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about tarot.

I love the size of this book. Good to stick in your bag for travel. Great and thorough information. My book arrived damaged though. Cover torn from not being packaged properly.

Good & Condensed Version for Beginners
This (besides my cards) was my first purchase when it came to tarot. I read good reviews and will give a good review. Easy to use the way its broken down into sections and I love that it gives keywords for each card. I haven't made any other purchases on tarot books because I feel like this is all I need!

A Great Little Compendium
This guide really has a lot going for it -- a good organizational grouping makes it easy to use, and therefore return to. It is thorough without being repetitious. I plan on using it as a primer in the beginning Tarot class I teach through my local Community Ed., because it has a welcoming open feel to it and the card definitions are concise and accurate. Physically it is a book lover's book -- the friendly chunky size, the wonderful paper, the smell of the book and the well placed and interesting illustrations make it quite fascinating to me. I like what else she incorporates into the Tarot study (though only briefly): how to use numerology with Tarot, crystals, a little astrology, add to a student's curiosity about these mystical cards. The spreads are grouped into sections, and are useful and insightful. I only don't like the title, but since I love the book, I think that's a minor quibble.
