works well good thermal layer glad we bought it
This is a well made sturdy door flap that works well. It was not that easy to fit because of our door style, we had to pad out around the cut out so that the flap came out enough to allow the door flap shutter to slide in from the top and secure at night. The white plastic screws in the pack seemed flimsy but in use we realised they are slightly flexible which meant it was a lot easier to line up and secure. There were also metal screws for fitting the outer panel, I do see why the other screws are plastic and the door is very secure with them. Dog loves it and is in and out all day long and we dont have to be constantly getting up and down letting him out. Im glad we went for the metal version and the thermal flap, our dog does like to dash though the flap taking his toys with him occasionally which could have been an issue for a plastic flap. We chose not to take the door off to fit which made it more difficult it was much easier with two people helping to line things up. There are adjustment screws to allow the movement of the individual flaps on both sides to make sure it closes well, ours is closing fairly well but we will probably adjust slightly to make it perfect, meantime it does keep out any drafts and no colder than it was in the room. Thumbs up from us :)

Very good pet flap
Firstly I want to address a couple of the negatives.. The one about it not clearly stating the door thickness and having to buy the extension adapter...it very clearly states "Easily fits into panelled, wood, PVC and metal doors 3.75-5cm" That person clearly hadn't bothered to read the full description. Another one complaining about being able to see light down the sides...that is where the brush bars meet the rubber flaps, they help keep the draft out...if you want double glazing standard, then teach your dog how to use a door handle...they've clearly never had a proper draft rattler pet door that blows the Beast From the East through your door and up your leg in the sitting room...seriously, I soooo appreciate how draft proof this one is! The one about "the mount for the 2 of the flaps blocks the frames from clicking together"...well, firstly they don't block anything, and secondly they don't "click" together, one is very slightly bigger than they other so they very smoothly slide in to each other giving a nice smooth surround to the whole thing, makes it much easier to clean too with muddy dogs. I fitted this very easily on my own in about 30-40 minutes, it only took that long as I struggle with fiddly screws. The instruction are very clear and easy to follow. I absolutely love the padded middle flap, that really does make a difference and helps to keep the rubber flaps apart snd connecting to their own magnets...oh yes, this has 2 sets of magnets, unlike the conventional 1 middle one, this is a game changer as once the two flaps lock in, there is minimal...and I really do mean absolute minimal, draft coming through. I've had years of many different pet flaps, currently 7 furry beasts, and this is by far the best one. I think I got it on a good deal, I paid £47.62 for the medium flap and £10.91 for the medium adapter as my door panel is a standard 28mm, you DO need that extra adapter as you can't fudge it to fit if your panel is not thick enough...it has to be between 3.75-5cm to not need the adapter. We are currently at -4 here is freezing cold Chester, UK and I can barely feel anything from the flap, in fact I can't feel any draft, just a little colder due to the aluminium frame...really can't ask.for more than that. So all in all, I definitely recommend this, so much so I went back and bought another ready to put in the extension.

Nice sturdy cat flap (not wind proof!)
Fed up of opening the door for our cats and making sure they are in when we go out, I decided I would get a cat flap. We live in a cold windy part of the country so I went for this expensive "weatherproof" one. I can't say much for how weatherproof it is as I fitted it today on a quiet autumn afternoon. It was simple to fit with the right tools. It took around an hour including sealing it with sealant. It fits well and the flaps sit true In the hole, they are adjustable but didn't need Adjusting for my door. It would be sensible to tighten the screws gently and make sure they aren't too tight, or you end up pulling the frame out of shape, which will mean the flaps don't fit properly. One of my cats has taken to it easily, baring in mind he's never seen a cat flap before. The other one is an idiot but will get it eventually. I suggest sealing it well on both sides with an adhesive sealant rather than bathroom silicone. Also consider making sure that your door keys are kept away from the door for security. I have the small but it would be possible to stick an arm thru the flap and steal door keys. I'll update the review with how weatherproof once we have some bad weather! So far I'd recommend this flap it seems to be of good quality and I can see how it would help the keep the cold and draft out, in comparison to a standard single flap. EXTREME WEATHER UPDATE: This cat flap is not extreme weather proof! We are in the middle of a small storm with 30-40mph gusts of wind. The flap is opening by itself and it is very breezy in my kitchen! Probably still better than a regular single door flap but it's not as great as the packaging would make you believe.

Keeps the draft out and the heat in.
Using it as a dog flap for 2 cocker spaniels size L.. amazing product brillant value for money. Keeps all the draft out and very quiet. Security is brilliant has like 3 doors. Very durable for dogs. Definitely would say to g et the aluminium one for a few £ more. Functionally says what it’s for.

Good but not great
This works great as a dog flap, my issue is that it is advertised as extreme weather but it still allows cold air to flow through. It is only weather proof when the cover is on and not usable. The cover also is very hard to get on and off as it is plastic that slides into sharp metal rails and it carves some of the plastic off each time it goes on. A middle WD40 helped it to glide on easier

Easy to use
An excellent product I’m so pleased I purchased this. I had to get someone to fit it for me as I’m useless at DIY. It took an hour but I was told it was easy to do with the right tools and a video does show you how to fit it! It does what it says all weather took my dog a couple of days to figure it out , no more getting up in the night fantastic!

Can also install with mod for thin doors (<3.5cm)
Install: The install was easy, once I had made a modification because my door was only 2.5cm thick (the product suggests: most doors 4.1 \- 5.7cm thick). The issue for me was the that plastic header for the middle flap is rather thick and hits the header for the outer door flap. My hack-fix was to unscrew the middle flap and saw that header down by what I needed (for me it was about 6mm) with a hack saw. I just eyeballed the cut - was not 100% straight, but when I re-attached the middle flap I had just enough space to assemble the two frames onto my door...... just. After cutting the screw holes are still visible to screw back in the middle flap and are deep enough to do so :) .. well, it did say in the manual, under things you will need: "competent DIY skills" :o -or in my case incompetent! Weatherproof - v-strong winds can open the flap, but then that is what the "storm shield" panel is for - so no issue there really. Warmth - pretty good, better then other flaps I have used. My only slight issue here is that all three flaps leave a slight gap around the sides. It looks like they spent a lot of time perfecting the bottom seal and forgot this. A bit of foam or brushes would maybe solve this. Looks great!
