Rising is such a fun book. I truly enjoy all of the original characters and the addition of newer ones. Interesting new interactions between Odysseus and Weston with Odysseus being tutored by Weston looking ahead I see a nice payoff. I personally think that really improves the pace that the story’s are taking. Going on offense against the Empire is riveting couldn’t put the book down. While Steph And Westons last encounters totally blindside to me, they were AWESOME. Thanks for a fun day. Now I’m going to reread it at a slower pace that should be good for a few more days of pampering myself. I hope #3 isn’t to far off Thanks again You truly are an Evil Genius PS if you have never read any of Evans books, don’t start with this one. Start with book 1 “Into the Black” . What a wonderful treat you will have catching up to book 8. That’s going to give you a good two or three months of fun reading pleasure. Us old timers who found Evan earlier keep needing to reread the series BECAUSE ITS SO GOOD. Enjoy Review: Enjoyable, if a little slow-paced and predictable - The story follows 2 parallel plots. The Archangels squadron is on a mission at the Empire's fringe to gather intelligence by acting as mercenaries, and they soon spot an opportunity to capture a valuable mining facility, a daring feat that draws the eye of an imperial fleet. Meanwhile, the Odysseus and its allies set up a colony convoy as an ambush for a predatory imperial commander. The author continues to develop the plot line from previous books, but in this one, things sometimes feel like they are being dragged out, and villains are a little too gullible and one-sides. I hope the next books in the series will have a faster pace, more plot developments and unpredictable twists, more characters to get attached to, and villains with a more complex makeup/character.

Another awesome adventure!
I haven’t been disappointed by a Evan Currie Odyssey series book yet, and I still haven’t! I think this book, number two in the Archangel series, is better than the first one. The story is engaging and keeps me reading and not wanting to put the book down. So much is going on that it draws me in and had me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend this book and everything from Evan Currie! You won’t be disappointed!

Evan's Best Book Yet
I have read and listened to every Currie book and this is the best one yey! Every book is pure excitement and suspense and you never get frustrating cliff-hangers. Currie always gives you a closure at the end (and not just happy ones). His satisfying completion of story arcs instead of continuously opening how plot lines and disregarding old unfulfilled ones tryly makes his stories satisfying and enjoyable to read over and over again. Great Job Evan Currie!

Exciting and entertaining series!
Congratulations to Evan Currie for this series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

a good read
This series should be read while you still remember the one before it which had the war with the Drasin, etc. I’m having some issues remembering all the details, and more of those would provide more context. I am enjoying the series nonetheless. Though there’s a great deal of space technology which is Greek to me!

Best in a while...and that's saying something!
EC has provided his best novel in a while - strong action, plausible space combat, multiple storylines - much to enjoy and appreciate. Even more than usual, a careful study, too, of philosophical underpinnings of war, battle, and conflict - without bogging down the flow. Bravo, Evan!

Another good book in a fun universe
This was another fun book in this universe. Lots more action, fun characters, space, tech, all the fun things needed in a good space book. I recommend this book and series.

Not too many coincidences and not too much repetition makes this a joy to read without having to skip large sections as with some other authors. The fact that alternative actions are actively considered by the main characters and logical reasons for discounting them sets this author apart from other SF writers and provides credibility to the story line. The human interest/introspection aspect is secondary to the story; many authors today overdo the personnel motivations to the detriment of a good adventure story. My only criticism is, particularly with the times between book releases, the difficulty in following the plethora of characters and where they sit both in the story and physically. Maybe a glossary of characters and prior story synopsis in the (hopefully) future books in this series?

As always a Fantastic read. The only fault is it's over far too soon. An author that always leaves you wanting more. A Brilliant series, thoroughly enjoyable tale of twists and turns on multiple stories within the one. Believable space battles, little tips of the head to popular Sci-fi franchise. I suppose it could be transcribed into the age of sail but that just shows the flexibility of the Story telling. Buy now lol

Very good storyline. Rollicking story which is just a little long-winded, but fits as part of the series. Very worth reading. A very good author (if I may respectfully say).
