No doubt the product itself is well worth five stars. But since I don't have a grain mill, I have to look around to find someone who'll crack the grain for me. Minus 1 star for that. I should knock off a couple more stars for the price but, well, I knew what that would be going into the purchase. Getting two pounds means I paid double embedded shipping costs.

Dark grain is perfect for Black IPA / Pils (yes pilz)Midnight Wheat provides all the massive black color you are looking for but none of the nastiness that can come with using a bit to much chocolate or heaven forbid Black Patent.The info sheet from the company says that it will leave a slight sweetness and this is true. I recommend using no more than 10% MAX and that is only if you have some heavy biscuit or cara type grains to support it. This grain while 'debittered' can still leave a slight and not unpleasant ashy aftertaste. Use it to your advantage! The Ash goes very well with coffee notes and can easily take the place of the acidity needed for proper coffee flavor and mouthfeel.
