I wanted a high temperature grate alternative to cast iron. I already owned the Vortex for my kettle for wings, etc. The amount of heat using a vortex can damage a standard steel grill grate. With the Vortex inverted (12" side up) and the Vortex grate, it is almost a perfect fit for my 22" Weber and offers the full width of the plate as searing zone.I can run this grate at Very High temp with no damage. It is not cast iron, so we are not talking about retaining heat, we are talking about searing at 800 degrees inches above the fire itself or at the fire level if you fill the vortex.Works as designed.v/r rch

Does not appear to be Stainless Steel. Heavily magnetic. Reached out to the seller with no response. Grate arrived bent as well. Yes, it's only a grill grate, but for the price it should be @ least flat & Stainless Steel as advertised.
