Professional Headphone Solution for band multitracking
If you're not a professional, don't let that intimidate you into something "cheaper". The features on the Art Headamp 6 PRO, are very well thought out, so much so that it makes inferior products, like the Mackie HM series, seem like a joke.First, it has a usable input volume range that is easier to dial in without distortion. By comparison, the mackie hm-400 had very little range on the input volume knob to find a solid level without distortion. Here, the Art HA6Pro had room on the volume knob to find a solid input volume without distortion.Second, the volume available on the headphone amp itself is louder than you will need for many solo or duo recording sessions. With a good set of sealed heaphones, the volume is also sufficient for drum tracking. When tracking super loud electric guitars with a set of sealed headphones, was actually able to balance volume so that click and backing track were loud enough to perform with.Third, the Aux input is on the rear. Have the Aux inputs on the back is very important. It preserves the life span of your cables that connect to your da/ad converter interface because they can't be bumped into or hit accidently. With the Aux inputs being on the rear, it also allows the front face to be used without clutter getting in the way of your hand and the knobs. So much better!!!Forth, the blend knob on the front blends between the main input and your aux input, allowing you to balance the volume for the musician recording. Because instruments and performances very so widely volume, being able to balance your instrument while recording against the backing track/mix is SOOOOOOO helpful!! If you're a singer, you definitely know about the psychoacoustic performance problems of drifting sharp or flat depending on if the backing music is too loud or too soft compared to your voice volume. And for all musicians, being able to hear the click track and yourself in balance while recording is crucial to producing a professional, rhythmically confident performances. Please note: generally, your audio interface has to have more than two outputs to take advantage of this as it requires routing the raw recording input to a 3rd (and/or 4th, or more) output that plugs into the Aux input on the back.If you have a simpler interface with even only 4 outputs and some internal signal routing, you'll be able to tap into the "more me" feature when recording. Finally, regarding the sound quality, its surprisingly good. I keep expecting it to lack punch or be thin and trebbly but it isn't. It had tons of bass and punch without skimping on highend clarity. And the mix definition is really good, too! While there are headphone amps that are slightly clearer in mix definition, the differences will be nearly indecernable for the VAST MAJORITY of people. All but those who've experienced the best of the best in professional audio. And this where you get into cost benefit analysis and tradeoffs. To get something that sounds better, with similar features, you have to jump into the $1000 range or more, if the feature set even exists in that price range at all. Much of the time, they are a single headphone amp with maybe 2 stereo inputs, maybe a blend knob but probably not, unless its a device intended for tracking sessions. There isnt anything else in the $100-$1000 range that sounds this good and is this usable.Even if you doubt that you'll ever use all 6 headphone amps at once, the "more me" blend knob, rear Aux inputs, usable input volume range and other design features (!!! yes, I've left stuff out !!!) make it so much more usable that its worth the $300.Kudos to Art for making such a well designed and engineered product!

High Quality, High Performance, Max Flexibility. A Bargain!
I bought one of these for our remote broadcast kit about 3 years ago. I needed a headphone amp to allow interviewers, interviewees and performers to hear what was going out on the studio link. We also needed some way to have headphone wearers to hear cues from the studio on the intercom channel. The Aux channel inputs were ideal for this. This has proved to be a really rugged performer. The audio quality is very high and the connectivity is exceptionally flexible. Since my first purchase I've bought 2 more. One for our main air studio at the radio station and one for my project studio at home.I just bought another one more to go with our remote mixer. The mixer sits at the edge of the stage and is controlled over Ethernet. Sound monitoring at the control point comes back over a pair of balanced XLR cables to a HeadAmp 6 Pro. Most other headphone amps have only unbalanced inputs. Driving unbalanced audio a few hundred feet around stage lighting and other noise sources is asking for hums and noise problems. The HeadAmp Pro has balanced inputs that can be used for unbalanced too. There are a lot of less expensive headphone amps available and I've tried some of them. The Art HeadAmp 6 Pro wins at so many levels. Still a bargain at this price.

Well-built, works, just not very powerful
This is a pretty nice unit, but it just doesn’t deliver enough power to drive even modest cans like the ATH-M20s to a sufficient volume for studio use. I bought this so my band can rehearse at my house without lugging around amps and bothering the neighbors, but to get sufficient volume for everyone, we have to run the meters well into the orange and risk clipping.

I'm not a satisfied customer
I bought two of them. They were packed in the original boxes, and one came damaged. There was no outer box for protection nothing. I live in Hawaii, so you know it got tossed and pounded all the way here. Anyway, the one that came with the damaged box I had to return because the L/R balance pot on one channel was super hard to turn. I got a refund, and another one came fairly quickly in just a few days, but!, this box came even more damaged, "in the original box again may I add", and now there was about 5 pots on the unit that's very hard to turn. The pots work fine, but are just very, very hard to turn. After getting this replacement, I feel I should have just kept the first one I got, at least only one pot was bad.As for the sound, the unit sounds okay, with only minor difference from the console to the headphone amp, but, the gain structure / headroom is very low. If you're not isolated, and working with very loud performers, live or in the studio, this unit may end up being a bit challenging for you. With that said, broken and all, Im definitely not a satisfied customer, Ill give it 2 1/2 to 3 stars, but I am going to keep them anyway because of its features, and it does have a decent sound. At least It'll work for what I'm using them for.In my opinion, buy at you're own risk
